I slid down the door until my back hit the wood, lungs dragging ragged air, skin burning as if I’d stepped back into the shower. Maddox’s scent clung to me, threaded through the steam, stuck under my skin. I could still feel the phantom weight of him pressed against me, the rough edge of his mouth so close to mine, and it made me shake.
