I turned toward the burning horizon. The flames threw long shadows across the trees, flickering over the blood-stained earth. My throat felt raw when I finally spoke.
“I don’t know,” I said quietly. “But something’s changed. I can feel it - like the whole land’s holding its breath.”
My wolf stirred, uneasy. "Not safe. Not normal." She barked.
