The Goddess

Chapter One, the Past

Athena POV

*2 Years Prior*

I can’t stop running. My wolf, Amelia, is screaming at me to stop, to turn around. But I can’t, that bastard just murdered my family. My whole pack. Moon Goddess, what have you done?! 

“Come back here my little flower, I can smell you!!!”

Athena, go to him. He’s our mate!!

Bane, Alpha of the Dark Moon pack, is apparently my mate. His damn pack came for a treaty, they wouldn’t leave our boarders alone. As soon as he walked in the door, Amelia went crazy. He smelled like a summers breeze and dewdrops. He insisted I leave with him immediately, and when I refused to leave my pack, his anger took over. He leapt at me, fangs out. My mother stepped in front and took the blow, dying instantly. My father howled in pain, trying to signal the pack that something was going wrong. They fought, and I ran. I reached the woods before Alpha Bane howled in rage, and I knew it was a victory howl. The pain in my heart was unbearable, the man who was supposed to love me forever, chosen by the Moon Goddess, just slaughtered my family. Amelia wimpered in pain, she loved our parents. 

Athena...our mate just wanted us...

STOP AMELIA! He murdered the only people I’ve ever loved! I screamed at her. 

I kept running, leaping over dead trees and rocks. I was determined. I am an Alpha’s daughter. I will NOT be controlled. 

“Hello, little flower. I caught you.”

I gasped and skidded to a haunt. Somehow, Alpha Bane had made it in front of me, and I was now surrounded by his wolves. Amelia was too heartbroken, and only wanted her mate. I couldn’t fight in wolf form, and I definitely couldn’t take them all in my human form. 

“I am not your ‘little flower’! Go away!! I am an ALPHA!” I screeched.

“Oh but you are. The moon goddess made you for me. You’re all mine, little flower.” He grinned, still covered in the blood of my parents, the blood of my pack members. I was sure he’d killed them all, I could feel it. 

“She makes mistakes. And I can see that now. I, Athena White, Alpha of the White Whispers Pack, reject you...”

Suddenly, before I could finish, I was being slammed to the ground. 

“Let’s see how well you act after this!”

I felt canines piercing my neck. This bastard was marking me against my will! I screamed, and Amelia howled. Suddenly, my bones were burning, I could hear cracking. 

Fuck, Amelia you can’t take over now!

It hurts Athena, I must get us away...she wimpered painfully.

When the shift was over, we stood as tall as Alpha Bane. He and his wolves stared at us with wide eyes, until Amelia growled with such power it even shocked me. Bane grinned, and I couldn’t figure out why, until I realized his mark was bleeding heavily, and Amelia was getting weaker by the second.

Hold on Amelia, run! I screamed to her.

I can’t, too weak...then everything started to go dark. 

No, no no no!!!! He can’t have us.

We will escape Athena, the moon goddess does not ignore her mistakes...

Bane started to walk toward me, then grabbed my rear paws and threw me over his shoulder. I could feel the sparks where he touched me. I couldn’t reach Amelia anymore, and I was fading out of counciousness.

“Let’s go home little flower, oh and you’ll never get away from me again.”

And then everything went dark.
