New beginning!

Life goes on no matter what!

Anu's POV:

I woke up at around 6 am in the morning. I went straight inside the bathroom and stripped out of my dress and had a warm shower to loosen my muscles. I walked out of the bathroom covering my body with towel and made my way to the closet. After a long time debate with my inner self, I finally confirmed to wear a knee length floral skirt with a simple crop top and a simple flat. These were the only nice clothes with me. Since today is the first day of my work I want to dress myself in an appealing way.

Then I walked down the stairs and entered the cafe. There Mrs.Agrawal (old woman) was sitting in the counter. She saw me and greeted me with a warm and comforting smile. I went to her and then she ordered some another worker to stay in the counter. She took me to my working place where I will be working. She showed me around the place and made me familiar with the machines. She also introduced me to the other colleagues. They were Tina ( a middle aged married woman of medium height, with long black hair, brown eyes and who maybe in her late thirties), Akash (a tall lean young boy with black hair trimmed neatly with pure black eyes and who maybe around 16-17 years old), Annanya( a young girl beautiful girl in her early twenties with brown eyes like me and hair upto her waist line. She was lean and around my height. And somewhat sense we looked alike. She was also the dearest grand daughter of Mrs. Agrawal who is working here during her holidays to help her grandma) and finally it's me.

All of the colleagues greeted me with a warm smile. I didn't even get any alien feeling around them. It was like a magic, I never felt comfortable around people this fast. And especially Annanya, I don't know why but I had this unknown and familiar kinda bonding with her. I was comfortable being around her. Any way I started working. There people divided work according to their turn, one day if one cleaned then next day they will serve and the next day they will cook. I know it was kinda weird but I was thrilling too. Everyone gets to do all parts of the work and their will be no disputes regarding who did more work.

It was around 1 pm in the noon where we were give 30 minutes lunch break. I had no money and was thinking of skipping lunch and asking for my today's pay in the evening and have dinner. So I just sat on one of the bench placed on the one end of the kitchen and plugged in the earphones and started listening to random songs. Maybe I dozed off so I was woken up by the tap on my shoulders. I lazily opened my eyes and saw Annanya standing there with some packed food on her hand. I thought that I was late for my work and fear gripped me so I hastily stood up and arranged my dress. Seeing me hastily waking up she laughed at me and said;" there is still 10 minutes for this break to end, you need not worry. I saw that you are not eating anything so I brought you some lunch. You even didn't had breakfast in the morning. I was stunned listening to her. I didn't want to burden her so I straight away denied to eat the food she brought. I know I was hungry. But all the things she and her grandmother had done is more than enough for me.

But Annanya being her she threatened me to eat or else I wouldn't be allowed to work more and sent back to my room. So I had no other option and I ate the food she brought. She smiled at me and went to work and I too started to work. Today it was my turn to clean so I started cleaning the tables and tomorrow it was my turn to serve.

The cafe was quite busy during the evening time. So we had to rush during that time. Since there were no customers the cafe was finally closed at around 9 pm in the evening the cafe was closed. Woosh! It was a tiring day all my energy was drained off. Mrs. Agrawal gave everyone's pay for today. But I was surprised to see that she gave me 2000 rupees because it was more for the new worker. In my last works I hardly got paid 1000 per day. But who cares since the cafe runs off well maybe she is generous enough to pay well to her workers.

I took my pay and rushed to my room. I went to the bathroom and showered with warm water to wash my tiredness of today. Since I don't have many clothes it is easy for me to select clothes. I wore one of my old pajamas which my mother bought me 2 years ago. I went outside for some dinner. The city was quite busy during the night. Local vendors were selling their goods. And I was just stalling around. Then suddenly my cell phone rang. I saw the caller ID, it was my mother. I had been ignoring her call since the day I had left. So today also I just ignored her call. I was walking on the road but a tasty aroma of local foods attracted my senses. I followed the smell and I was left on the one of the stall of fast foods. I ordered some chicken dumplings, sausages and a bottle of coke. After eating I paid and walked around the city for a while. Then I returned back to my room. I lied on my bed was staring at the ceiling when suddenly my phone rang and startled me, I checked the caller ID and guess who it was, It was my mom. I just ignored the call but then I got a text from her which said," You f******g W***e where the hell are you, pick up the damn phone, you think you are smart enough to outsmart me huh, but remember I'm your mother. You can run as much as you want, but you cannot hide". A lone tear fell down from my eye, I don't understand why my mother hates me s much. What wrong have I done to her? Despite her abusing me for all these years, I always loved her. How can a mother be so ruthless, When will the good days come to me. With all these thoughts I just let my body consume me and I slowly drifted to my sleepland hoping for a better day tomorrow.
