The door creaked open and an astounding figure from Lissie Jones made Colton Vistagra drift his eyes on her.
He put his pen down, along with shutting his computer the moment she came inside.
Bearing her icy glares, Lissie narrowed her eyes at him.
“It's a surprise you came here,” Colton smirked. “How may I help you?”
Lissie made a sound. She clicked her tongue before scoffing. “Are you in the middle of doing something with Andy?” She inquired.
Colton raised his eyebrow. “Andy and I—” before he could finish his statement, Lissie cut him off.
“I want to ask you something,” Lissie affirmed— disregarding the topic about Andy. She doesn't care about her, why would she exert an energy to tackle Andy? However, the importance of Andy in Colton's life made Lissie realize it.
Colton can't hide the annoyance in his face due to Lissie's quick change of behavior. She's far from the Lissie he once married five years ago. Her charm evolved into becoming more regal, ballistic, and her icy indifference highlighted.
“Shoot.” He affirmed.
Lissie took a deep breath. “Are you the current director of St. Louis Medical Hospital?”
He nodded slightly with indifference in his eyes. “Yes.”
She promptly closed her fist, nibbled her lower lip with annoyance. “Then there's no doubt you're the one who leaked my grandmother's death to my grandfather.” Lissie accused him indirectly.
Colton ceased from moving, puzzled due to the claims Lissie spilled. “Since when did you get yourself a grandfather?”
He didn't think Lissie had so much under her sleeves. She's hiding more than the information Homer took. All the things he found out about her were all work-related stuff and her life overseas didn't belong to those folders Colton skimmed. Colton frequently hits rock bottom whenever he tries to dig deeper. His suspicions point out all to Louis but later on, he realized it might be Lissie's grandfather.
Upon Lissie's monitor of Colton's puzzled uo and disbelief, she realized Colton wasn't the source of the leak. ‘Oh God, it's not him! But who else?’ She questioned in her mind.
“Oh, I'm sorry. It seems like I mistook you for something.”
Disappointed, Lissie made a swift serve, aiming to leave when he was fast enough to catch Lissie's wrist.
His jaw clenched, it highlighted his jawline and the veins in his neck protruded. “That’s it? You're leaving after that?”
Her eyebrows arched. “Is there something else we need to discuss?” she retorted back. Frustration hit Lissie.
Skimming with the disgusting feeling in her eyes, Colton tightened his grip on her hand, with no intention of letting her go. “You can't just barge inside my office without permission, Lissie. I don't permit indecencies!” He affirmed with a solitude tone.
She didn't let him take over her. Lissie shakes her hands to take his hand part off her, but Colton wouldn't just let her go. ‘You can't leave easily, Lissie. You have to pay for it as I won't take this lightly!”
He has no intention of hearing Lissie's small grunts; rather he pulled her closer to him as their eyes locked with each other.
“Release me all at once or I'll kick your d**k!” Lissie warned him but Colton seemed not to give a f**k.
“Do you wanna know the truth behind Mrs. Jones' death, huh?” His sudden declaration made her stunned.
She winced. Anger, shock, and confusion crept in her eyes. “What do you know about her death?”
“I know you visited the hospital with Louis.” He affirmed with suspicions. Lissie's eyes went small, she was monitoring if there's a hidden agenda between those lines. ‘Is he involved with my grandma's death? You cunning man!’ Lissie affirmed in her mind.
Colton took a deep breath, he stared at Lissie menacingly. “Your grandma's death seemed suspicious. I'm investigating it and let you know.”
“Really? But my instincts say you're involved with it.” Lissie affirmed, crossing her hand on his chest whilst challenging him through stares.
“Don't you trust me?”
A long, mocking chuckle released in her lips. “Oh, God. My trust in you has vanished for years! There's no trust left between us, Colton. What do you mean?” I asserted in the most mocking possible way.
Ever since Colton mistreated Lissie whilst they are still married, the trust in between them slowly fades away. Her love for him was deeper than the Mariana trench, but Lissie is not stupid for her to stay with someone who only wants her body, her blood, and a scheming husband!
She nibbled her lower lip, hands on her chest then she took a deep breath. “Can I ask you a question, Mr. Vistagra?”
Lissie calling her ex-husband Mr. Vistagra feels more comfortable rather than giving him a title as if they are still married. A long, mocking, and regal tone made Colton speak. “Mr. Vistagra, huh?” He mocked. “I can answer whatever question you throw at me, but on one condition.”
She raised her eyebrows, astounded at his request.
