Chapter 16: Divorce plan

1298 Words
It was hard for Lissie to sleep inside her room. Memories lingers in her mind like bumping cars outside the street. She was just staring blankly at the ceiling with her eyes widened. Her body is tired but her spirit is still awake. Minutes later, familiarizing herself back to her old room, Lissie fell into a deep slumber. Her body adjusted, it was far different from her bed in her unit but she's comfortable enough to fall asleep. The next day, old Mr. Vistagra and his grandson Colton shared the dining table together, eating the breakfast Cindy and the housekeeper prepared. “This salad is good for you. Mind you, I woke up early to give you this.” Cindy affirmed whilst getting a small scoop for Christian. Behind them was Kaleb, who was teary-eyed seeing Christian and Colton are back at the same spot again. “It's glad to see you joining breakfast after five years, Mr. Vistagra. I'm glad you're back.” Kaleb greeted him with compassion in his voice. Lissie's absences for the past few years had a huge impact in their lives especially in the old man's normal routine. The Vistagra residence weng gloomy when she vanished, it seems like it's not the same residence anymore. But now that she's back, the old aura of the mansion is deliberately increasing. As she went down the stairs, Lissie caught Kaleb talking about her. She heard what Kaleb asserted and bit her lower lip. As Colton was about to eat, the old man stopped him from urging Colton to stand up and ran errands for him. “Stand up and check on Lissie first. See if she's awake.” Colton didn't speak. “She's back now. It's better if you take good care of her and remove the abhor inside your heart!” The old man ordered him sternly. ‘Abhor inside my heart? It's you, grandpa, who abhors me the most!’ Colton decided to keep those words for himself. He didn't bother speaking anymore as it would only make his quarrel with his grandpa go deeper. On the other hand, Colton made an expression by arching his one eyebrow. He wanted to check on her yesterday but he felt Lissie's discomfort so he gave her space. As much as possible, Colton wanted to monitor Lissie but he doesn't have the power to do so. To divert the attention and put out the tension aside, Cindy affirmed. “Colton knows what he's doing Christian. Lissie just got back. She must be tired. Let's not disturb the child and let her rest for quite some time.” She said, making the atmosphere at the dining table lightly. Fortunately, Cindy's words lightened Christian's mood yet his abhor toward Coltonis still there. Lissie standing and listening to their conversation decided to move forward. She approached the table and sat across Coltons it's the only available seat near her. “Morning, grandpa,” she affirmed before kissing his cheeks. Her eyes fixated at Cindy and Colton so she greeted them as well painted by her cold tone. Old Mr. Vistagra's face glimmered in happiness. “There you are! Come. Sit, sit.” Realizing it has been a while since the last time the Vistagras joined together to eat made Lissie hurt. She never thought her disappearance could lead the Vistagras into a huge gap between family members. When Lissie was still there, there's no day Christian did not attend the breakfast, lunch and dinner. As long as Lissie is present, he will be there. Lissie felt uncomfortable knowing she's in front of Carter. She regretted seating there momentarily. His cold attitude towards her made the breakfast heavier. If she were to choose, Lissie would rather pick the loaded dinner yesterday than today. Only the sound of utensils, glasses and plates are all you can hear. The breakfast ended with an awkward silence, but leaving Christian a harsh words towards his grandson Colton. “If you can't set aside your resentment, don't bother coming back.” He frigidly affirmed. Colton's eyes drifted on the old man. “Lissie is enough for me. I don't give a damn if you come back or not.” He was partly astounded. He was affected by his grandpa's words that it cut deep inside his cut. He doubts that the old man will love him again the same way he loves Lissie. Their eyes darted at the man who just entered the extravagant door. Homer arrived to escort Colton out, however, his ears managed to hear Cindy inviting Lissie over a certain event which Lissie did not like to attend. Meanwhile, Lissie returned in Northfolk City. Her issue with Andy Moore remained a topic, as people were intrigued about where Andy stands in the Vistagta family now that the original wife is back. What made the topic go wild was when Cindy Vistagra was seen with Lissie Jones at all social events they had attended. She was wearing the jewelries Cindy attained at different auctions two years ago with Andy. People gone wild. They finally realized that Lissie is the favored one whilst Andy will remain the blacksheep, and a mistress. “Argh!” Andy groaned. She exploded inside her luxurious apartment, throwing everything she saw including glasses, paintings, and even her picture frame with Carter. Her eyes drifted to her iPad. Pictures of Cindy and Lissie together are scattered around the internet. What made her blood boil even more was when she saw how Lissie was holding into Cindy's arm. Andy's rage was undeniable. Nothing can calm her down except the rumors get cleared and her place in the Vistagra family— especially in Colton’s life shall be cleared. “Stop it, Miss Moore. Calm down, please…” Andy's assistant affirmed. Seeing her boss in rage made her nervous. She hasn't seen her angry like this. Her glares drifted at her clerical assistant, Valencia. “Do you know what the f**k is happening, huh?” Valencia held her boss’ hand. She made her sit at the couch whilst offering her bottled water. “I know you're stressing over the company. We lost millions, I know! But there's always a way, Miss Moore. Please calm down and drink this. I will help you get back everything we lost from the previous events.” There is only one person who made everything impossible. She's the root cause of her problem— Lissie. Thinking about the woman inflamed Andy's anger. She doesn't want to see her! If possible, she wanted to kill her with her bare hands but that's impossible! On the contrary, Lissie didn't anticipate the commotion after the party. She went home to the Vistagra mansion again to have some team with the old man. It was his request, Lissie loves the old man and she can't say no. “What's wrong grandpa?” She asked full of solemnity the moment she brought her teacup down. The old man sighed. “Answer me with full honesty, my dear. Do you plan on divorcing my grandson?” His question took her by surprise. “G-Grandpa!” Unhurriedly, the old man took Lissie's hand and rubbed it gently. “I know your marriage with him is nothing but marriage for convenience. He's not someone you can handle and my grandson is such a pain in the ass. But…” “But?” Lissie repeated his words. “Tell me what you want grandpa.” By then, Lissie’s heart thumped fast. “I want to ask you a favor.” She didn't interrupt him. Instead, Lissie waited for the old man to spill the beans and waited for him patiently. “Can you hold any divorce plans with him until I'm done? Can you do that, sweetheart?”
