Chapter 5: Did the baby survived?

1042 Words
The exposition ended when his clerical assistant found him, and the two just left, leaving Colton alone, speechless. “I've been looking for you, Mr. Vistagra,” Homer Saltouen affirmed when he saw his boss stone-still. “The car is ready. We're set to leave.” Over the last five years, only a few knew what life Colton had and that includes his secretary, Homer. Since the accident occured five years ago at 31st Fort Liberty Bridge, Colton became more distanced and closed off. None of his family can closely talk to him past five minutes. “I need you to investigate something for me,” Colton affirmed coldly. “Take me all the information throughout the five years Lissie disappeared.” He demanded with a stern undertone. “Copy, sir.” The name Bellissima Victoryn doesn't ring a bell. The brilliant fashion and clothing brand had sent ripples to the fashion industry. Each fashion of a person increased, from timid to fierce, from neat to slay outfits. All because of Lissie's hit designs, a skilled and now well-known business owner and fashion designer. Within that day, Homer delivered all the necessary information his boss demanded. One folder results in thick pages that state Louis and Lissie's life for the past five years. Colton perceived Lissie as someone who's relying on him, had no skills, and was completely worthless. He thought the only thing Lissie knew was household chores but her recent achievement made him flabbergasted. He continued flipping each page, and each picture in front had him stare at her face momentarily. “Louis Brown? He's the CEO of Brown Group in Southfolk City.” Colton read the description about him. “Yes, sir.” Colton read his biography. Louis Brown already had many achievements in life. He established the Brown Group and grew the company using his own capabilities. A small scoff comes out his lips. The moment Colton flipped another page, Homer Saltouen spoke. “Mr. Brown is personally taking care of Mrs. Vistagra. He set up a studio for her at Southfolk City over the past few years and has been supporting her until then.” Homer asserted, nervously giving information Colton wanted. Colton felt a soothe of jealousy tingling him inside. He remained quiet. He doesn't find much information about them. Majority of the papers presented were the things Colton knew about Lissie and their personal achievements. Other than that, there's no more interesting facts about them that caught his attention. “Any news about Kenneth Lim’s whereabouts?” Colton affirmed, making Homer's hand shake in fear. Homer looked down, shaking his head. “None yet so far, Sir.” Going back, Colton told Kenneth to fetch Lissie at the Vistagra manor. Unexpectedly, none of the two survived and managed to come to the hospital alive. If only Kenneth Lim did not opt to present himself and fetch her, he wouldn't have lost Lissie for years. After years of searching, Colton never found him. He never found the two but solely the car that belongs to him. This only fueled Colton's belief that Lissie is still alive. As a former military army, Kenneth's ability could turn a situation around. There's a huge chance he saved Lissie. “Keep looking, Homer. We need to find him.” Homer held his pants tight, afraid to speak up and question him. Sweats fell down his neck. “But what if Kenneth Lim is already dead, sir? We're just wasting our time looking for a dead person.” Homer affirmed nervously. Colton glared at Homer, making the man look down in horror. “Impossible! Kenneth is an experienced ex-military. Lissie managed to survive, why can't he?!” He wanted to find out the truth. He wants to know what happened. His secretary's affirmation triggered Colton's madness further. “Just keep on looking, Homer!” Homer immediately showed respect by bowing his head. “I will try to find a lead again, Sir! Rest assured I will find one this time. I will report back to you as soon as possible.” Homer Saltouen left his office quickly, leaving Colton inside speechless and thinking. People who are working for him know he dislikes traitors. He will never forgive them. At some point, Colton questioned himself. ‘Did Mr. Lim betrayed me that day or did he simply fail?’ The questions in Colton's kept roaming in his mind. A sudden thought struck Colton's mind. He flipped through the pages and carefully sought the child's information. ‘What about the child? I want to know what happened to him!’ Colton was carefully reading the pages and found nothing. There's no traces or news about a child Lissie bore. His mind has been clouded by thoughts for the second time, he stumbled upon all the information yet the certain news he wanted to know is not indicated in the sheets his assistant provided. Colton threw the folder. He was stressed, anxious, and emotional. He felt a surge of guiltiness inside him. Lissie was nine months pregnant when she vanished. Her due is almost over, and a wonderful baby girl will be born. However, Lissie encountered an accident. One question popped in his mind. ‘If Lissie managed to survive, does that mean our child too?’ He immediately ran to the internet, searching the name ‘Bellissima Victoryn’ yet the things he found are her recent achievements less than a year ago. Other than that, he found nothing. When Colton typed Lissie’s old name, countless articles about her death showed up. He stayed up all night, finding the answer he was seeking for. Typing the same question and keywords at the search bar but he ended up finding nothing. Colton came home to his mansion in a dire state. He saw Andy waiting worriedly at the receiving area holding her cup of tea. “Colton! I'm glad you're home. I've been waiting for you since earlier! You vanished after the exposition. I thought you already came home that's why—” He didn't give Andy any attention she seeks for. He’s tired, he was troubled deep in his thoughts. Andy's appearance in the exposition even slipped off his mind. He forgot Andy is waiting for him!
