LIRA (smiling coldly)
I’m suggesting the script is flawed—and I don’t intend to die at the end of it.
CALLEN
What makes you think I won’t have you executed for treason right now?
LIRA
Because you're tired of being the hero. And I know your secret.
A tense silence. She pulls a sealed letter from her sleeve.
LIRA (CONT’D)
You had spies following Evelyn. She visits Fenric at night—alone.
CALLEN (jaw tight)
What do you want?
LIRA
A partnership. Temporary. Until we survive what’s coming.

A shadowy figure—EVELYN—slips into the side gate. A GUARD nods and lets her pass.

EVELYN

EVELYN (coldly)
She’s acting strangely. If she steps out of line... I’ll make sure it’s her last time.

LIRA tosses and turns in bed. Thunder rumbles. She dreams—

She’s back in the ballroom—empty this time. Blood drips from the chandeliers. She looks down. Her dress is red. A knife in her hand. A mirror nearby.
In the mirror, she sees not herself—but the “old” Lira, weeping, hands bloodied.
OLD LIRA (mirror)
Why are you doing this?
LIRA
Because no one mourns a puppet.
The mirror SHATTERS.

She awakens, gasping. A knock at the door. It’s NYRAH, cloaked in a midnight-blue robe.
NYRAH
You’re bleeding fate all over the floor. Mind if I come in?

NYRAH examines a thin cut on LIRA’s hand—bleeding faint glowing ink.
LIRA (alarmed)
What… is this?
NYRAH
You broke the flow of the narrative. Now it wants to bind you back in.
LIRA
I changed the story. Shouldn’t that free me?
NYRAH
You’re not the only one playing author now. The world writes back.

NYRAH leads LIRA through a dusty corridor beneath the estate. The walls pulse with ethereal text—moving, rewriting itself.
LIRA
What is this place?
NYRAH
The Archive of Forgotten Stories. Every rewritten soul eventually ends up here.
LIRA
There were others?
NYRAH
Always. Most die before the final chapter. One or two… survive long enough to become editors.

They pass carved glass coffins. Inside—figures frozen in death: a rebel prince, a poisoned witch, a grinning jester with knives.
LIRA stares at one coffin—her own face.
LIRA (softly)
That’s… me.
NYRAH
Your original end. Chapter 47, remember?
LIRA
I’m going to burn this whole story.
NYRAH
Then start with the chapter ahead. The Masquerade.

INT. BALLROOM – MASQUERADE NIGHT
Music swells. Masks shimmer. Nobles twirl and whisper. EVELYN stands at the center in a radiant gold gown. LIRA enters in obsidian silk, half her face hidden behind a feathered mask.

Masquerade Ball.
Evelyn kisses Callen. Lira disappears quietly. Forgotten.
...Not this time.

CALLEN spots LIRA. He moves toward her.
CALLEN (low)
You look dangerous tonight.
LIRA
Danger keeps things exciting, doesn’t it?
They dance. Whispers rise.
CALLEN
She’s watching.
LIRA
Let her. I’m done playing shadow.
As they twirl, EVELYN watches from across the room—mask slipping, expression turning ice-cold.

LIRA steps out into the moonlight. A figure appears behind her—THANE VAELOR, the knight.
THANE
You’ve changed.
LIRA
You always say that. In every timeline.
THANE (confused)
...Timeline?
LIRA (turns)
You’re one of them. A fixed point. You always die for someone else’s dream. What if you didn’t?
THANE
Are you warning me... or recruiting me?
LIRA (smirking)
Both.

EVELYN rips off her mask. Mirrors shatter with a flick of her hand.
EVELYN
She’s not following the script anymore.
She walks to her dresser. Opens a hidden compartment. Inside—an inkwell of black ichor. She dips her finger and writes glowing runes on the mirror.
EVELYN
Let’s remind her who the heroine is.

INT. LIRA’S BEDROOM – MIDNIGHT
The room grows colder. The book glows again—then begins bleeding black ink. Pages flip violently.
NEW TEXT APPEARS:
"Lira’s alliance with the Duke was discovered. She would be arrested by sunrise."
LIRA stares, unblinking.
LIRA
Nice try.
She opens her drawer—pulls out a fresh quill—and begins writing her own line beneath it:
“...But she had already left. With the Knight. And the heroine’s trap fell on air.”
EXT. MOONLIT FOREST – NIGHT
LIRA and THANE ride fast under the trees, vanishing into the fog.
THANE
Where are we going?
LIRA
To find the Author’s Grave. The only place where the end can be rewritten completely.
THANE
And if it’s a myth?
LIRA (firmly)
Then I’ll make it real.
