CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
I headed home at noon after having coffee with Gail and stopping by the office to see that all was still standing, I headed home. Linda was volunteering at a homeless shelter and Rey had advised she was working from home and that Cash had left early that morning (so there was no reason to avoid the place anymore).
“Hey-ho,” Rey said cheerfully as I strolled into the kitchen and placed my cell phone and overnight bag on the counter. She was slicing a multi-grain baguette for a brie-and-cuke sandwich. “Care for one?”
“Sure.”
“The kids are with Eddy, by the way.” She looked up and those grass-green eyes scanned mine, then narrowed. “You slept with Hives!”
