Georgie was waiting for Mochi to come out of the bath. As she waited for him, she was reading a magazine until she fell asleep.
“Georgie.” She heard the voice of a boy. When she opened her eyes, it was Mochi looking at her face. “It’s time for you to wake up.” She covered her face as she rose from the couch.
“This is so embarrassing.” She ran to her room and locked the door.
“I’ll wait for you.” Mochi arranged his things in his bag.
“Erina, can you please get up there? It’s already six in the morning.” Gavin was knocking. Erina opened her eyes as she heard the knocks.
“I’ll be there in a few minutes.” She changed her clothes and saw Gavin in front of the door.
“Are you okay? You haven’t taken a bath.” Gavin covered his nose while Mochi was giggling.
“I thought it’s too late.” Erina looked away and went to the dining room. “I’ll take a bath later.”
Gavin was laughing secretly at her back. He was preparing the breakfast on the table. His grandfather came home after buying some seafood from the market.
“Are you going to school this early?” His grandfather put the seafood in the refrigerator and changed his clothes.
“Yes, grandfather. Oh, I’m not coming home early. I’m going to a friend later after class.” Gavin took a sip of his hot coffee and sighed slightly.
It took half an hour when Georgie had finished the bath. Mochi was smiling at her. He smelled the freshness of strawberry scent of her shampoo. He liked how she looked at her uniform with a towel on her head.
“Don’t have some dirty thoughts, Mochi.” Georgie stomped her feet until she reached her room and there she was trying to stop the fast beating of her heart. She knew it was unchangeable. She began to notice the sweat around her face and arms.
“Stop this feeling, Georgie. How can I stop this?” She was panicking at the thought that Mochi was thinking dirty about her. The towel on her head fell. Her knees trembled and she sat on the ground. “Is this my end?”
“Georgie,” Gavin called her as he was eating his food.
Georgie’s heart skipped a beat when she heard her name. She stood up and went out of the room. “Let’s eat.” She began to eat the scrambled egg and ignored the presence of Mochi beside her.
The school bell was ringing, and it was time for a lunch break.
Mochi was about to find Georgie, but he heard his classmates saying bad words at her back. “She’s annoying.”
He invited her to eat lunch but she refused. “I need to be alone, Mochi.”
He didn’t know what happened. It was her mood that made him understand her.
At his age, he was understanding, although he was childish when he was in the ocean. He managed to change when he got to the land. He was trying to study the culture of humans and enjoy what adventure would come. He would cherish it until his last breath.
“Georgie,” Mochi called to her as they walked in a street. He was holding a white rabbit stuffed toy.
Georgie looked at him and there, he handed her the stuffed toy. She looked at it and wondered why he gave her this. “What’s this?”
“A stuffed toy. Don’t you want it? I have it for you.” Mochi sounded like a man whom Georgie hated and liked at the same time.
“Just stop it.” She started walking away.
“Georgie, please hear what I’m saying.” Mochi ran after her.
“I don’t want to hear you.” She covered her ears and went to their house.
Mochi stumbled on a rock that made him cry. The wound hurt him. He stood up, put the white rabbit toy in his bag, and went on his way home.
He saw Georgie sitting on the couch after putting the stuffed toy on her bed. "I'm sorry."
"Okay, I accept it." Georgie, took a stern look as Mochi sat beside her. She pushed him a little and went to her room.
"Georgie, someone is calling." Mochi rushed to her door.
Georgie answered the call. "Okay, grandfather. I'll be there in five minutes." She looked at Mochi but refused. "No, I'm going alone."
Mochi put the telephone back in its place and ran after Georgie. "Wait for me, Georgie."
"No! Stop following me." Georgie stumbled at the big rock. "Ouch!"
Mochi sat down in front of her and said, "I'll carry you there." She thought of not accepting his help, but she grabbed the opportunity instead.
"What happened to you?" Grandfather was chopping the cloves of garlic. He went to the kids to check for them. "Please, get the medicine kit from the cabinet." Mochi got it quickly and gave it to him.
The scratch on her right knee was still hurting. The grandfather put alcohol on a cotton swab and gently cleaned the wound.
"Ouch!" Georgie's eyes burst into tears.
"It's not that I wanted to see you only. I want to spend this night together with you." The grandfather put the gauze and plaster on then, washed his hands. "I know this is your favorite ice cream."
The pink ice cream was topped with sprinkles and the smallest marshmallows. Georgie's intention was not to share this with Mochi. She would feel like being betrayed by her grandfather.
"I want the two of you to be friends."
"I don't want to make friends with him." Georgie crossed her arms and gave a fierce look at Mochi.
The grandfather told them magical stories about mermaids. That was why Georgie was patiently listening. She wished having a mother and father, but they were not found after she was born.
That night was incredible and magical too. It made them closer to each other. Erina and Gavin went there too. They laughed at Gavin's joke and made Erina's heart pound. He was funny after being mean to her. He was a caring person who would do such great things for you.
It was late at night when they arrived at their home. Gavin patiently waited for Georgie to sleep and made a diary. He used his green-inked pen and started taking notes for the night. It made him feel satisfied after he hated Erina for being there.
"I think that I'm getting used to it. It will come that she'll be choosing me over a guy." Gavin shook his head and slapped his right cheek. "No! What am I saying?"
The green pen dropped below his table after doing his diary. He went out to drink a glass of water when he heard some steps coming towards him. He silently crawled to the nearby table because of the dark. He wanted to protect himself, so, he grabbed her neck up to her mouth and switched on the light.
When the room was lit, it was Erina. She was wearing a night dress that made him gulp his saliva. His adam's apple went up and down. She looked sexy in her night dress, but he shook his head.
"It's me," she said while looking at his blushing cheeks. She put her hand on her forehead and checked his temperature. "Are you okay?"
Gavin pushed away her hand lightly and grabbed her wrist. He looked into her eyes and gulped.
"You're scaring me, Gavin."
He dropped her wrist, brushed his hair, and said, "You scared me though." He looked at her back and covered his mouth. "It's a gh-ghost!"
She almost yelled and hugged him. "No! Gavin, I'm scared."
Gavin almost lost consciousness as she wrapped her arms around his neck. His sweat began to drop onto his face. He just chuckled and pushed her a little but hugged him more tightly. "I can't breathe."
Erina stopped hugging him when she realized that she was not wearing her undergarments. She slapped his right cheek and ran to her room. It was embarrassing how she did that to him.
Gavin was smiling like an i***t when his grandfather came in front. "So, what's going on?"
"Nothing." His smile turned to a stern look and he waved goodbye. "I'm sleepy."
The next day, Georgie was cleaning the room and found the green pen that his big brother was using at night. She put it on the pen holder and got ready for school.
That day, Erina was carefully watching her moves whenever Gavin was present in a place. She kept remembering the event that happened last night. When she shook her head, Gavin was smiling beside her.
"What's with that look?" Erina was annoyed at his smirk.
"Well, I'm just making you feel teased."
She slapped his shoulder and hissed. "You're a pervert."
"What? I'm not like that. You're just the one who..." His words stopped when she covered his mouth with her hand. Their classmates were staring at them.
"You keep embarrassing me." Erina's face began to redden when he held her wrist.
"Let me go." Erina was trying to escape, but he said teasingly, "Are you sure?" He let her go but she unbalanced her weight. She fell into Morpheus's arms.
