From the salt sea came all things, even Tiamat, the Mother Goddess. She was small at first, barely a thought. But she moved over the waters, her feet brushing the waves like the wind. She did this for an eternity of eternities until she was strong. Strong enough to bring forth the freshwaters that cut through the land so that she could lay her eyes upon its fertile strength. And when she saw how bountiful it could be, she told herself: "I will make creatures to enjoy its fruit. I will give them life." So she did, one by one. And last of all, she fashioned men from the salt of the sea and set them upon the banks to dry. And once they did, they began to walk about freely. But eventually they strayed, leaving behind the shores and wandering inland before she could teach them all they neede
