Chapter13

Heat flushed up to my cheeks as Laura chuckled through the screen. She wiggled her brows playfully, teasing me without mercy. I shot her a glare that clearly translated to: ~Look at what you’ve gotten me into.~ Logan was still holding the phone, but his breathing shifted, warming the shell of my ear as he leaned in close. "Okay, lovebirds, this is where I make my exit," Laura giggled, cutting the call before I could protest. I bit my lip hard, a mix of embarrassment and frustration swirling inside me. She knew exactly what she was doing when she pushed us into playing this ridiculous game. ~Damn you,~I cursed silently. The irritation vanished the moment Logan’s lips brushed against my neck. His kisses were wet and deliberate, sending sharp sparks straight through my entire body. I squeezed my eyes shut, my breath hitching as his lower body ground gently against me. His voice dropped into a low, seductive growl that sent a shiver down my spine. "So when is it going to be over, my sexy vampire?" If I hadn't been on my period, I would have melted right then and there. "On Monday," I managed to get out, though my voice cracked. The kisses on my neck intensified, turning into a sensation so sharp it almost tickled. "So I get to have you on Monday?" It sounded like a question, but his tone carried the heavy weight of a confirmation. He slid his hand up to my breast, giving it a light, possessive squeeze. Then, with an effortless shift of his weight, he flipped me over onto my back so I was looking right up at him. His deep blue eyes locked onto mine, searching, as if trying to read my absolute deepest secrets. Leaning down, his lips brushed my ear as he whispered, "I love you, Allison." My heart physically stopped for a beat. My breath caught in my throat. Those were the exact words I had spent days aching to hear from him. Reaching up, I tightly gripped the fabric of his shirt and pulled him down to me, closing the distance to kiss him. For the first time I was the one making the move without being drunk or acting out of sheer desperation. It was completely real. "You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for you to say that to me," I breathed against his lips. Our noses brushed as a soft, breathless laugh escaped him. "Really?" His minty breath fanned across my skin. For the first time in my life, a profound sense of warmth washed over me. I felt genuinely special, knowing the man I was completely falling for felt the exact same way. I nodded, my chest tightening with a sudden wave of curiosity. "Since when have you felt this way?" "From the moment your dad showed me your picture," he murmured, his expression softening into a genuine smile. "It was love at first sight. Ever since then, I’ve been keeping a close eye on you. I felt like a total stalker, but the only difference was, I knew I was watching my future wife." A rush of emotion hit me, and I placed both hands on his cheeks, framing his face. "You have to say it again, Mr. Carter." I paused, completely captivated by how tender his gaze had become. He was looking at me like I was a precious stone worth millions. "Tell me you love me," I whispered, my voice growing weak under his stare. He shook his head. "Why?" "I want to say it again when I’m f*****g you." Before I could even process the words, he claimed my lips again, his tongue sliding into my mouth. The sudden intensity left me breathless, my hands tangled in his clothes as I struggled to keep up with his demanding pace. Just as suddenly, he pulled away, leaving me breathless and aching. "We need to go see your father at the hospital," he explained, his tone shifting back to business as he caught his breath. "He wants to see me. But since you’re here, I want you to come along." He stood up from the bed, and a sudden wave of emptiness hit me. It was strange how badly I didn't want him to move away. "I need to get back to my meeting first. I left right in the middle of it," he muttered, looking down at me while smoothing the wrinkles out of his shirt. A stunned realization washed over me. He had actually walked out of a business meeting just because of what I had shown him. This was something he had already seen twice, yet he reacted like it was a brand-new revelation. Before turning toward the door, he reached down one last time, his fingers wrapping around my right breast for a firm squeeze. "Don't tempt me like that again." With that, he walked out. I rolled over, grabbing the pillow and burying my face in it, squeezing it tight against my chest. My heart was hammering against my ribs, and my skin still tingled where he had touched me. This man was doing things to my body and mind that I couldn't even rationalize. It felt like I was completely under his spell, and for the first time in my life, I didn't ever want to break free. Is this what people actually call love? **** It was morning, and we were already dressed and ready to go see my father. Logan had packed some gifts for him, and I had to fight the urge to tease him over how eager he looked. We got into his car and he drove off. Exhaustion hit me almost immediately, and I drifted off to sleep. I hadn’t slept well the night before because Logan couldn't keep his hands to himself. Not that I was complaining, but my n*****s were actually sore from the way he kept rolling them between his fingers, even in his sleep. The drive went by in a blur, and before I knew it, we were walking into the hospital ward. I pushed the door open first, rushing straight to my dad's bedside to wrap him in a tight hug. "Daddy," my voice instantly shifted, sounding like a little kid. I was Daddy's little girl, after all, and I loved him to pieces. "My little angel." He cupped my face in his hands, his eyes crinkling. "I've missed you so much." Logan pulled up a chair and sat down, throwing us a mock-pout. "What about me?" he muttered, looking entirely put-out. My dad let out a soft sigh. "You don't get to complain. You're the one who always chooses work over me, remember?" "It's not like that," Logan muttered, rubbing his temples as if he'd had this exact argument a thousand times. "Besides, your daughter keeps me pretty busy at home these days." "You stay at his house now?" my dad asked, his eyes widening in surprise. A moment later, a teasing look crossed his face. "How come no one told me about this new arrangement?" He wiggled his brows, staring right at me to see how I'd react. A flush crept up my neck, and I quickly looked away, feeling like I’d just been caught doing something scandalous. "I'm only staying for a few days anyway," I blurted out, trying to change the subject. "Does it matter how long?" Logan chimed in, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. My dad chuckled. "Well, I'm expecting grandchildren from all this 'busy' time." "Daddy!" I gasped, squeezing his hand to make him stop. "I'm working on it, sir," Logan promised, leaning back with a grin. My father’s expression turned a bit more serious as he looked at Logan, then back to me. "Allison, I’d like to speak with Logan alone for a minute. I have something important to tell him." I sighed, crossing my arms. "Alone? Since when do you two share secrets?" "Come on, Allison, don't tell me you're jealous of me already." Logan rested his chin in his hand, his eyes dancing with amusement as he watched me. I couldn't help but smile at his antics. Shaking my head, I stood up and walked out to give them some privacy.
