Keep running, kitten.

Andrea My lips parted but no sound came out, not until he was barely an arm’s length from me. Ronan was swift, and I backed away, shivering despite the warm water. With each step I took away from him, he crossed the distance in less than a second, swifter than before, gliding across the water with unprecedented ease. His eyes gleamed with desire, with amusement so dark I shivered. One moment he reached his arm out, hand almost reaching me. My heart pounded in my chest, hard. I pulled back, evading his touch. Only when I had gone far enough did I realize he was enjoying this. “Keep running, kitten,” Ronan’s words were fuel to my flame. “It makes the catch all the more worth it.” Push and pull. He was a master at it, apparently, so adept that I couldn’t help but feel a tad embarrassed at playing this game with him. Him, the ruthless Alpha King of the North. The one whose very presence made people shudder in dread. He was toying with me. And somehow, a part of me likened it. I farted around from corner to corner, each time he got closer and closer. The last time, his fingers grazed my shoulder, sending delightful electric shocks down my arm. I panted, muscles aching slightly. I wasn’t used to swimming for a long time. In this large bath, with no one else around but me and him, every sense in my body was heightened. Even a breath wouldn’t escape me unnoticed. Suddenly his eyes flashed. “Enough playing, Andrea.” That was the only warning I got before I felt a hand press me against the cool tiles of the bath, and his towering wet frame bore down on me. My lips were seized right as I was about to speak. Our breaths lingered together in a split second. And he immediately entangled our tongues together. I let out a soft moan, my body shaking. I braced myself, one arm pressed against his hard chest. It was so firm, so strong. Every part of him was, and it ignited feelings in me I didn't know I had. With Garrett, I had not been treated like a woman, but as a burden, as a way to ease his desires without care. Each time Garrett deigned to look at me, it was with malice, scorn and as though he were staring at the most disgusting thing he had ever seen. Those memories had faded now, into nothing. I whispered as I felt Ronan’s tongue swipe hard against mine, making me weak in the knees. When our lips parted, his arms already encircled my waist, tugging me close to him. It was then I realized the gravity of what we were doing. We were both naked, and he showed no intentions of stopping. I should have pushed him away, or at least put up a struggle. Yet something stirred within me, a longing deep and raw, one which made me give into Ronan, which made me wrap my legs around his hips. I felt something hard poke my inner thigh, and it thrilled me all the more. Ronan’s chest rumbled as he chuckled, his lips pressing against my collarbone, leaving bite marks everywhere. Each time I’d feel the warm sensation of his mouth, the pressure of teeth against skin, barely breaking it. “Lovely,” Ronan said, his voice seemingly far away. “You taste exquisite. As expected of my mate.” A loud door slammed, and I jolted, gasping with my chest heaving. Ronan stilled, but did not turn around. “Ronan, we had a deal,” Kael’s voice was full of anger, seething. I glanced over Ronan’s shoulder, still in a haze. Only when I caught Kael’s gaze, silvery as a river on a foggy morning, did clarity begin to return. “A deal indeed,” Ronan growled, still not letting me go. A hand trailed down my waist, to my thighs, dipping to its inner crevices. A soft moan left my lips unwittingly, as I was without control. I had been played like putty in Ronan’s arms. And right now I couldn’t think of anything but to satisfy this growing desire in me. “Let her go, Ronan,” Kael stated, his tone harder than ever. “You’ve played enough. Now isn't the time for this.” “You talk too much, brother.” Ronan tutted, but he released me, pulling back. The water in the bath rippled as they followed his every movement. And I leaned back against the tiled wall, panting, feeling like I’d just lost something. But worse, I couldn’t take the way Kael looked at me. Only now did I realize things had indeed gone too far. I had gone too far. I looked down at the rippling water, tears pricking my eyes, my vision blurring. Suddenly I thought of Garrett. All those insults he had thrown at me seemed to make sense now. I was nothing but filth. Without thinking I left the bath, picking up my clothes and fleeing in less than a couple of seconds. My bare feet padded against the floor in a pattering sound. The sun was just setting, with a cool summer breeze chilling me to the bone. I ran all the way to my room, only to nearly bump into someone as I turned the corner. “Hey!” Dahlia’s voice. I trembled, a tear spilling down my cheeks. She was also another person who didn't like me, who thought nothing of me. I mumbled an incoherent ‘Sorry,’ and brushed past her, entering my bedroom and locking it as soon as I shut the door. I lowered myself to the ground, curling up against the door and tried my best to breathe. It was impossible. Tears spilled out like a river, endless in its depths. At this point, I didn't even know why I was crying. Was it because of shame at being caught by Kael in such a position even though we were mates? Was it the thought that I had sunken so low? Or was it the reminder from those traumatic memories that I could never forget? I didn’t know. All I knew was, I became exhausted, drifting off into a heavy slumber. …
