“I’m afraid Dr. Polidori has left for the day.” The nurse behind the counter looked up from her computer and gave me a nice, if not slightly frazzled smile, and I debated pushing for more information. “Thank you.” I turned to go, but then turned back. “Would you happen to know when he left?” “I saw him leave—and I’m guessing here—about half an hour ago. Did you want to leave a message for him? I can put it in his mailbox.” Before I could answer, an attractive, shaggy, brown-haired guy wearing dark blue scrubs stepped behind the counter and reached for a clipboard. “Actually, I just saw him on the basement level.” He gave me a wink. “That basement exit can take you a roundabout way to the employees’ parking lot. If you hurry, you may just catch him.” “How do I get to the basement level?
