Tarquin’s eyes narrowed as he deciphered what Five wanted to tell him. “Do you mean…why the bowl should’ve killed me? What was I doing here?” Five nodded quickly. Tarquin pulled in a breath. “I hate talking about it.” Five nodded again. He carefully touched his fingers to Tarquin’s lips. “Thank you.” Tarquin looked down at his own fingers, twisting in his lap. “There’s no reason not to tell you, though.” He forced himself to meet Five’s eyes. “Faladir…Faladir’s dead.
