Mine Forever

Chapter 9

After setting everything, I and my parents sat down inside the car. The unknown happiness could be seen on my parents face. Even after asking hundred time they didn't tell me the reason behind their smile. I was now frustrated thinking about all the possibilities

I was looking out of the window when a particular ice-cream parlour caught my attention

Suddenly I felt my throat tightening when I thought about the time when I use to love ice-cream from this shop

Before 6 years

"Ya Allah, where is this boy? I will kill him today." Frustratingly I was tapping my feet on the floor waiting for Zaim and he was nowhere in sight

I looked at the time and saw that he was twenty minutes late

In this one year I and Zaim became the best of friends. We would go to school together and come together. Everyone in his family and mine too knows about out friendship and they didn't make a fuss out of it. Alhumdulillah!

Currently I'm waiting for him after the school. Everyone left the campus except him

"You are dead Zaim." I said and that's when I saw him running in my direction

He reached and kept his hand on his knees and was panting hard

"Where were you?" I questioned looking at him

"Got caught in some work." He said and before I could reply I heard a voice of a girl

"Zaim?" On hearing her voice I and Zaim both looked at the figure

She was standing at a little distance from us with her hair open and a smile plastered on her face. She was looking at Zaim with the same dreamy eyes

Gosh this girls

"Yes?" He asked looking at me and the girl

"Actually, I didn't understand one sum in maths so could you please explain me that sum?" She asked battling her eyes

"Okay I'll teach you tomorrow in class." He said but the girl interrupted him

"Can you please teach me today? We have test on it on Monday so I want to learn. I can also come to your place if you want." She completed while I waited for his answer

"WHAT? No no.... I will teach you tomorrow in the class itself and no don't come to my place." He said shaking his head

Looking at them talking, I left the place walking away

"SARA... wait." Zaim yelled. I could feel him nearing due to voice of the footsteps

I continued walking ignoring him

"Sara, what's the matter?" He asked me

"Nothing." I replied and continued walking while he followed

"Hey, this is not fair. Atleast tell me what happened?" He asked me

"I said right... nothing's wrong. I just wanna reach home early." I said and continued walking

"Oh....that's the matter. I was thinking that we could have ice-cream together. But bad luck we cannot." He said and I turned around to look at him who was suppressing his laughter

Suddenly he started laughing and I too joined him after few seconds.

"I don't know why do you act like you are angry on me, when you can't be." He said smirking at me

I narrowed my eyes at him and replied

"Whatever. Now leave that and come fast we are approaching the ice-cream parlour and your treat." I said and he shook his head

We both continued walking talking about our day in school. We reached the shop and Zaim went to bring our order. I was looking around when I felt eyes on me. I looked in the direction and saw that a guy was looking at me. The way he was looking was making me uncomfortable. He started walking towards me while I was waiting for Zaim

"Sara right?" He asked me and I was confused on how does he knows me

"You are beautiful." He said and the look in his eyes gave me chills

I turned around and saw Zaim's back facing me. I ignored the guy and was about to walk away when he caught me wrist

"Where do you think you are going?" He asked me while I freed my hand from his hold

Before I could even reply, I saw a figure in between me and the guy

"Back off." Zaim said in his cold voice

"Why?" The guy asked smirking at Zaim and me

"I said back off right now, Walid." Zaim said

"Why man? What is your relationship with her? Huh? Is she your girlfriend?" He asked smirking at me and before I could know, the guy was laying on the floor

I looked at Zaim who was red due to anger

"Mind your tongue. And next time before you utter such words think to whom you are speaking to." Zaim said and caught hold of my wrist and started walking away

I looked back and saw the guy still laying on the floor. We reached my home and that is when he noticed his hold on me. He hurriedly left my hand

"Sorry." He said and I smiled at him

"It's okay." I replied

"You are looking like a tomato." I said wanting to lighter the atmosphere

"What?" He looked at me and narrowed his eyes at me while I smiled speechlessly

"Seriously?" He asked and I started laughing after looking at the look on his face

After laughing for a little his face turned serious indicating me about some serious talk

"It was a mere luck that I turned around to check on you otherwise I don't know what would have happened. From next time you will come along with me. Got that?" He questioned while I nodded my head

"Okay than, I'm late see you later. Assalamualaikum." He waved at me while I replied to his salaam but suddenly remembering something I yelled

"ZAIM YOUR ICE-CREAM TREAT IS STILL PENDING."

I looked down smiling, thinking about how he had made me eat two ice-cream the next day. I looked outside the window and saw that we had reached. I got down of the car and after taking our luggage, I followed my parents. Once inside I saw that the whole house was silent which was so unusual. Thinking that they may have gone outside I went inside the room in which I'm staying. Once done freshening up I went to meet everyone but the sight in front of me made me freeze

"Grandma...." I whispered and looked around to find my whole family here from Qatar

I run towards my grandma and hugged her tight while crying on her shoulders

"I missed you." I said parting away from her

"I missed you too dear." She said while patting my cheek

I started meeting my uncle and aunties that were present here

"Where are everyone else?" I asked on not finding my cousins

"We are here." I heard my cousins yelling from the corridor

I started walking towards them to meet each and everyone of them

"Assalamualaikum." I greeted everyone while they replied and started hugging me one by one

"I missed you." My cousin Alina said

"I missed you too my lil sis." I replied smiling at her

After the meeting session we all are now sitting in the living room, talking

"Everyone have now become adults ha? Marriage and all." My grandma asked playfully

"Yes Masha Allah, everyone are now settling in their life's." My chachi replied

"So now when are you thinking of getting our Sara married, Yusuf?" This particular topic caught my attention and I looked up at parents

"We have got a proposal ma." My mom replied while I swallowed looking at my grandma

"Oh..I see." Grandma replied sadly

Why sad?

"So who is the boy?" Grandma asked and I looked at Nabhan who was sitting besides Ayan bhai while the person besides Ayan bhai caught my attention

He was looking at me with a hard look on his face. Not able to look in his eyes, I turned around and looked at my parents who were looking at each other

"Ma, he is Nabhan." My father said pointing out to Nabhan while my grandma just nodded her head

What? Just nodding? What's going on in her mind?

Excusing myself I hurriedly left from there not able to cop-up with the sudden topic of marriage. I was drinking water when Aliza, my elder cousin called me

"Sara?" I turned around and saw her

"Yes di?"

"What happened? Why did you left from there?" She questioned me while i kept quiet

"Is it related to the marriage?" She asked me while I swallowed and nodded my head

"Di, I'm not sure of this marriage." I replied

"Have you prayed ishtekaara?" She asked me while I shook my head

"Than pray and see what Allah wants you to do. Have faith in Allah. Everything happens for a reason and you know that." She said and I nodded my head

"Jazak Allah di." I thanked her and hugged her

"Wa iyyaki." She replied

Thinking of praying ishtekaara tonight I left from there
