The Outcast
July 9, 2004
“You should’ve just ignored them,” said Autumn. We’re currently in the infirmary to take care the wounds I got from Eva, the Queen Bee of L.Y International School.
“It’s alright if I’m just the only one they’re bullying because I’m used to it but I can’t stand it if they were to hurt you.”
Autumn stop putting ointment on some of the bruises I got. She just bow her head and then later on, her shoulders are already shaking and I could even hear her whimpers.
“Hey. Stop crying.”
“When I got my scholarship, I didn’t even think twice to transfer into this school. Aside from the fact that this is the best school in our country, I also get to be with you. But now, knowing how these students treated you here, I wanted to drag you out of here and look for another school where they’re treating the students right.”
I sigh.
“This is my dream school, Autumn. That’s why I did my best to get that scholarship. That’s why no matter how hard it is, I could bear all the pain just to graduate in this school.”
She cried harder and hug me.
“I will never leave you,” she promised that made me smile.
Autumn is my childhood friend. We’ve been friends since we’re a baby. We’re also attending the same school since kindergarten until I decided to transfer out on our 10th grade. Before I transferred, Autumn promised me that she will follow me to that school no matter what.
I really hope she just broke that promise so she won’t be in the same miserable situation as me.
“I’m okay now. You can go back to our class,” I told her but then I saw that fear in her eyes. “Don’t worry, they won’t do anything to you during class hours so just go and take some notes for me.”
Even though she is hesitant, she left me in the infirmary.
I lie down on the bed and close my eyes.
Just a little bit more and I will graduate from this school. And then I will get another scholarship to study to a well known law school. Then I’ll take the BAR exam and become a top notcher. Just a little bit more.
“Nurse! Nurse!”
I was alarmed when I heard a loud voice looking for our school nurse.
“What happened?” I heard our school nurse asked.
“It’s his phobia. Some reporters cornered him to asked about his father.”
“Here put him in here.”
The curtain opened and there I saw a man holding an unconscious guy in his arms.
The nurse checked on him while the man who brought him here is just looking at that guy with some worry in his eyes.
“Everything is normal. You can leave him here now and I’ll wait until he wakes up.”
The man nod then he looked at me but didn’t say any word before he left the room.
“Ahm. I should go back to my class,” I told the nurse so she looked at me.
“Are you okay now? You might have a hard time walking because of that wound on your knee.”
I got up from the bed and tried to walk but failed. I just end up sitting on the bed again.
“You can stay here for a while. I’ll just give you a slip so your teachers will excuse you on your classes.”
“But…” I’ll miss our lesson. I’ll be left behind our topic so I’ll will need to catch up on them.
That’s what I wanted to say but I just keep my silence.
“You could have told her that you don’t want to miss your class.”
I look at the guy lying beside the bed I’m sitting. The just left and now he’s already awake. Is he just pretending earlier.
“Is it that hard to say it?” he asked and sit up to properly look at me.
I bow my head down and didn’t answer him. Instead, I lie on the bed again with my back facing him.
“You’re always quiet.”

“There were too many reporters, Young Master.”
It was Hunter, my butler.
We’re in front of our school but the car can’t get in because there were too many reporters standing in front of the entrance.
“We should go to the back gate,” said the driver but I stop him when I saw someone familiar.
Though I’m too far away from where our car is, I’m sure she is that girl. The girl from our class. She is shouting at Eva while a girl is standing behind her crying. I guess that’s her friend
This is the first time I saw her fight back. She’s an outcast and always get bullied but she never fights them back. She always ignore them and just keep quiet while reading her books.
I get out of the car when I saw Eva push her and then drag her hair while the two friends of Eva are holding her friend who’s trying to stop Eva.
“Young Master!” Hunter called me but didn’t mind him. Instead I ran to the entrance causing all the reporters to get in chaos. They surrounded me and bombarded me with a lot of questions about my father.
I had a hard time breathing and my eyes become blurry.
“Young Master!”
I close my eyes when Hunter caught me before falling down on the ground. He pick me up then put me on his back and started running.
“Nurse! Nurse!” he shouted.
I opened my eyes and there I saw that girl’s friend getting out of the infirmary while drying her tears.
Hunter put me down on the bed before he left. And then I heard that girl’s voice talking to the nurse about going back to her class. She’s really a grade conscious. But well, she got admitted in this school because of her grade so I can’t blame her if she is trying so hard to do well and maintain that scholarship.
She lied back on her bed and turn her back on me that made me smile. She’s really the only one who have guts to ignore me like this.
I walk to her bed and grab her hand to pull her up.
“What are you doing?” she asked, startled. I smiled again because this is the first time she ever talked to me.
“Let’s go back to our class. I can’t miss any lesson,” I told her but the truth is, I just wanted to help her.
She hissed when she stepped her right foot where in a big wound on her knee is there so I needed to held her on her waist and put her hands on my shoulder to give her a support.
“Slowly,” I told her. But also it’s like I’m telling it to my heart to beat slowly when it started beating too fast.
It took us too long when we got to our classroom. Our teacher is about to scold her when I interupted and explained what happen. There were whispers from our classmate, asking why we’re together. And some grunts when I helped her until she sat on her desk.
“T-thank you,” she said without looking at me and her head down.
She was startled when I touch her face and then made her look at me.
“Say it again while looking at me.”
Her eyes widen as she look me in the eyes. She’s cute and that made me smile.
Ahhh, this girl already made me smile for three times today.
“T-thank you,” she said while looking at me then immediately turn away and bow her head so I just leave her alone and went back to my desk.
Instead of looking at our teacher in front and listening to our lesson, I just stared at her while she listens and take some notes.
Like what I always do, I just stared at whatever she’s doing. And from the very first time I saw her, I know that this girl is different. She’s the only one whoever got my attention without even doing anything.
