Cliff nearly choked, almost spitting out the water he'd just sipped. Were girls these days really this bold?
"That's the worst idea I've ever heard. I can't believe you came up with that," he snapped.
But before the words had even settled, Rose looked as though she'd suffered some terrible injustice. Her eyes turned red in an instant.
"Cliff, you big liar! You already promised me! You... you're going back on your word!"
Fat teardrops trembled at the edges of her lashes, ready to fall at any moment. The sight of her on the verge of crying completely disarmed him. If there was one thing he couldn't handle, it was a woman crying in front of him.
