Charles I barely slept last night. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her. The way she stood there across the road. The way she held her chest like something inside her was breaking. The way she still left anyway. Goddess. It keeps replaying in my head like punishment. I'm sitting in the car outside the courthouse, fingers tight around the steering wheel, jaw locked.
