The mind is a wanton beast. Try as I might to ponder the condor, I’m back to dwelling on ducks. This time, the male duck, and I’m brimming with interesting facts. The male, being superior, has its own special name, to distinguish itself from its female counterpart. Drake. Yet, in the final analysis, a drake is nothing more than a pretty male duck. There really is no getting away from it. The masculine duck is larger, more regal looking, more striking than its female counterpart, its plumage often brilliantly colored, sometimes iridescent. Drakes do like to strut their stuff. Female ducks are camouflaged by their plainness. Male ducks stand out. I suppose they like to draw attention to themselves. Except after mating, when many of them molt and lose all that plumage. Then they look
