It must be said that I’m getting close to understanding the final solution. I feel lucid. It’s the thinking, the thinking things through. I’m a well-oiled mind. For instance, the word ‘vain’ has a second meaning which I am also finding most compelling. It’s all to do with being futile or worthless, a pointless waste of energy. All that preening and fluffing up of feathers will not turn a duck into a swan. You can’t turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse. My mother always used to say that about my sister…but now I’m digressing.
