19Homemade tree swing waits Grassy hill, girl child runs free Joy, on Grandma’s farm. Skye was up and ready to go Friday morning. Travel was a thrill. She begged Mom to let us go on the Himalayan trek. She wanted adventure at any cost and was even excited about visiting the country. She had been on the road with her punk rock dad, but had never in all of her sixteen years been out way in the middle of nowhere, like where Grandma and Grandpa lived – a four-hour flight from LAX and a two-hour drive from Memphis. I was used to going to see my great-grandparents every year, but I had never taken a friend with us. I couldn’t wait to share my memories with Skye.
