13The sun began its swift decent into the mountains as the Sherpa and porters set up the tents. Lama lit the fire. “Rice and lentils!” I said, with feigned excitement. “My new favorite food.” “Only four more days until we get to the village,” said Lama, with a mischievous smile. “But it will get more steep.” “Are there a lot of kids in the village who don’t have parents?” I asked.
