28Lama always seemed to show up when we needed him. He told Mom and me all about the trek and how beautiful the stars were in the Himalayan Mountains. Lama brought out Mom’s spiritual side. She planned to calm down and do good things for people. She would climb mountains and rescue children and bring their story back to show the world. It would be an eleven-day trek. She would be away from home for three weeks total. I was supposed to stay at Dad’s, if he wasn’t on the road. If he was, Mom couldn’t go. Something else for her to be mad about, prematurely in this case.
