Aunt Ida’s jam sits, as Cassie knew it would, alongside a blue ribbon: ‘Best Jam of Show 1980’. Her mother entered her jam drops and a knitted scarf, but they have not won anything. She pretends she doesn’t care and Cassie wishes she saw something in her dream for her mum to win. But it doesn’t work that way.
