Prisca focus on the road driving quite fast. Daniella always tease her that she could win a racing competition because she drives like a man. Prisca would scoff, is there a way a man should drive a car?
She suddenly heard something humming. Glancing at her phone, she finds it is her ringing phone.
Oh.
Her mum is calling her. She slows down and swiped on the receiver.
“Mum!” She squealed happily.
“Priscy babe, how have you been. You haven't called me this week” her mum says.
“Yes mum, I'm so sorry. I have been busy all week”. She says recalling.
“Okay, so is there any problem?” her mother says and she shook her head as if her mom could see her. She is used to the habit.
“No mummy, I have been fine. You?” She asks.
“I have been fine too. How is your dad and his wife, has there been any issue?”
“No Mom, we are perfectly fine” she lies.
“Alright. I will call you back “ her mother says and hang the call.
Prisca sighs.
Telling her mother the truth about her father won't change anything. She can't even do anything.
The past few days has been worse as Clara, her father's wife has been stepping on her toes real bad. Bullyings, hate speech and shaming her mother. The worst thing is that her father would never do anything. It was like he enjoys it whenever Clara starts her madness.
Well, she asked for it. In a bid to live close to her father after being away from him for so many years, prisca left her well paying job back in Connecticut.
Her elder sister had advised her against it, telling her to continue with her job in Connecticut but she mentioned wanting to change her location.
“I'm tired of Connecticut, I've been here almost all my life. I want to go to New York” she whined.
Her mother left her to go to New York as she requested. She is lucky to get a job the week she arrived and her father took her in. Little did she know that her step mother would be after her life.
Just this morning, they clashed on a earring Clara claimed has lost in her room. The maid did not confess to have taken it.
“You took it” Clara had accused her directly.
“But I didn't, I have never even been to your room” she said.
“Liar, I'm going to search your room, you thief” Clara had said pointing accusing fingers at her.
Her father was not home and she was on her way to work. Speaking of her father, he won't have even done anything. For goodness sake, she is running late.
“I did not take it” she said again.
“Then give me the keys to your room “ Clara blurted.
Seriously?
“Well I won't, I am late for work, we will sort this when I come back “ she had said and left the room despite Clara's shout of you took it, you crazy thief.
Sha had entered her car and hurriedly drove out of the compound. Now, she has to face her again.
Jeez.

Chris sat by the pool staring in the clear pool waters. A glass of wine is on a tray beside him. His mind drifts to the conversation he had with his father that morning.
“You will be resuming tomorrow, everything is already in place. I want you to give a great first time impressions. Good luck” his father had said as usual in that his authoritative voice. That is something he got from his father. Assertiveness.
“Yes dad” he had said and left the room.
He is resuming work the next day as the CEO of sterlings global; the biggest insurance company in the states. His father retired recently and has to call him from Canada to come home to head the company.
He finds it authoritative. Like he has no choice with his own life and his whole existence will be to guard the company.
Academically, he is well grounded; he has two bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting. A master's degree in insurance. His second master's degree in entrepreneurship is in view. He has every ability to run the company.
But… he hiss at his thoughts.
He is never the type to disobey his father. Infact, he reveres his father so much, so doing this for him won't be bad.
He is barely three weeks in the country and the boredom keeps increasing daily. Once in a while, he goes to a bar around to f**k random girls. After his last relationship in college, he has refrained from being a lover boy.
His ex girlfriend, Shirley, had cheated on him with two of his friends. He was so silly back then, almost naive.
Shirley is the hot girl back then, beautiful, classy, has great friends and the life of the party. He shouldn't have fallen in love with her but he did.
He has always naturally been a girl magnet. Girls flows around him ceaselessly looking for his attention but he prioritized a deeper connection. He longs for a girl he would love more than physical attraction.
Shirley fitted that description and he gave her his heart. Little did he know she was a w***e. She cheated multiple times but he never believed the rumours. It was when he caught her with one of his friends that his sense of reasoning suddenly appeared. He was devastated.
Ever since then, he had avoided getting into genuine relationships, he only went for the ones where his devotion were not important, more like s*x partners.
Chris glance at his wristwatch. Some minutes to seven, he could just go to the club to cool his head and lay a b***h while at it. He thinks as he stood up and walk into the house.

Prisca stares at her phone wondering if Miriam had gone mad.
“What the hell are you talking about?” She asks Miriam who seems like she is in the kitchen. The sound of a blender running can be heard.
“That was what she said, she asked me not to let you into the house” Miriam says again.
Prisca is stunned.
She had arrived in the house only to find the front door locked. That was strange. She calls Miriam, the maid to come and open the door only to be hit by her words.
She ended the call and dials Clara's number. There is no response.
