A squirrel had chewed a corner of the tarp, leaving it frayed and threaded. Robby awoke sometime around noon and watched the squirrel scatter as he sat up. His stomach growled while reaching for the plastic food bin he’d spent all night carrying. The bin was annoying to open but he eventually pried the top off and pulled out a package labeled, Italian Pasta with Marinara. The food required hydration. Robby’s heart sank, encountering a detail he’d overlooked and hadn’t prepared for. He pulled a bottle of water from his bag and poured liquid into the packet. The taste was horrible, but Robby was so hungry he choked it down without a flinch. A small surge of energy fueled his body and gave him strength to explore the woods and wilderness around him, unsure of how far into the forest he’d wand
