"Who was the officer that brought him in? What's he in for? Where is the report?" I floated past the Ding Wing, lingo for the prison psych unit. Sue Thompson was conducting a new inmate evaluation, a standard procedure that managed to stop me cold. "Officer Bearing brought him in. He was found wandering the side of the road ... n***d. There were reports of Peeping Tom activity around main street, behind the Jumping Bean. He said he was guilty ... I don't know ... waiting for the toxicology tests to come back. He tested negative for alcohol." An officer responded, entering data into a desktop computer. "What's with the red scratches around your neck? Is that rope burn?" Sue asked a man wrapped in blankets sitting across from her. He remained silent. "What's your age?" "I don't know."
