Chapter 59

Emmeline's attention was fixed on Agatha. She pressed several documents to the woman's chest while staring at her intently. "Why did you help Silas to destroy me? Who gave you the right to that?" Emmeline said. She spoke the words slowly, but her seriousness, as well as the charisma she had, made the words sound sharp and frightening. Especially for Agatha. As for Justin, he looked surprised to find Emmeline coming with what he didn't seem to know. Agatha bowed silently. "Why are you silent?" Emmeline asked. "You must have great guts to have done such a big thing to bring me down. Your courage must have been enormous. Then why are you silent now? Look at me! Look at me and say something, Mrs. Agatha!" "I-I-I ... " Agatha lifted her head slowly, "I ... " Agatha glanced at Justin, "I did it on the orders of Mr. Justin Ford, Miss." "Nonsense!" Justin retorted. "What nonsense are you saying?! You really—" Emmeline raised her hand at Justin, signaling him to be quiet. Emmeline's gaze, however, still didn't move from Agatha. "You didn't hear me?" Emmeline continued. "I'm not talking about Mr. Ford. I'm asking why you dared to deliberately step into my company and do all this? Who gave you the rights to that?! I know Howard Silas told you to! I know he was the one who put you in my company! Say yes, and it will all be over!" Emmeline said with emotion. Agatha had been shaking by then. She looked down again. "I know who you are," said Emmeline. She then opened one of the documents she was carrying and then affixed it back to Agatha's chest. "You're someone close to Howard Silas. I know that!" "H-how is that possible, Miss? I never worked for Silas." "Stop your pretense. A few years ago Silas HA had a jewelry design competition. You entered it, and you became the winner. You got an award from them. Silas may never have officially hired you, but you have attended several private Howard Silas invitations. It's possible that he did prepare you to annoy me." Agatha gasped at that. She looked much more tense than before. Justin was no less surprised. He looked at Emmeline with his mouth slightly gaping. Agatha said nervously, "No-no-Miss, I .... " "Now you have no choice but to admit it all," said Emmeline. "No need to argue anymore." Agatha closed her eyes with a tense expression. She swallowed heavily. "I ... it's not Mr. Howard ordering me, Miss. I moved of my own accord." "What do you mean?" Emmeline asked. Agatha opened her eyes again. "That's because ... I ... I personally support Mr. Howard Silas." "What do you mean by that?" Emmeline said cluelessly. "What do you mean by supporting him and why if you support him then you try to destroy my business? What does it have to do with supporting Howard Silas by causing chaos at Karfis & Vin? Have you lost your mind? Has Karfis & Vin been hostile to Silas HA? Karfis & Vin has never cheated on any company! We always try to compete fairly! Don't you understand that?! You must be crazy!" "I'm sorry, Miss. I was indeed at fault." Agatha closed her eyes again for a moment. "All I know, Mr. Valsecchi, I mean the late Mr. Vincenzo Valsecchi, has disappointed Mr. Howard Silas Ashbluff by resigning from Silas HA. Mr. Howard has given Mr. Vin a lot of trust and appreciation during his time working at Silas, but Mr. Vin has instead chosen to leave, and built a company with you. I ... I feel sorry for Mr. Howard. That's why I'm doing all this." "Oh, my God. You're being presumptuous," Justin Ford interrupted. Emmeline again asked Justin to calm down. "Your two other comrades entered with the same purpose?" Emmeline continued. Agatha nodded. "I invited them, Miss." "Why would they want to? How could they be so easily persuaded to do something dangerous?" "We ... are very close friends, Miss." Emmeline was silent as she glared at Agatha. No words came out of her, but it was very clear that an aura of anger was felt from her. "Since you've made up your mind to do it all, then be prepared. You're going to jail," Emmeline said. "Mom," someone called. A teenage girl came out from inside. She rushed to Agatha who was silent, then hugged her. "Mom, what exactly have you done? Why are you going to jail?" Emmeline stared at her silently. The innocent teenage girl looked at Emmeline for a moment with teary eyes. "Mom, tell me, what have you done that she will imprison you?" The girl started to cry. Emmeline felt like her heart was being stabbed. Her own eyes were also filled with tears from holding back the disappointment of betrayal, but Emmy's chest tightened at the sight of the teenage girl by Agatha's side. "All right. I'm not going to jail you," said Emmeline. "But from now on, you're fired." Emmeline stared at Agatha's daughter for a moment, before turning around and leaving the place. Justin quickly followed her. "Miss. Miss Karfis," Justin said as they reached Emmeline's car. Emmy stopped. "I don't know how you got all this data so quickly. But I'm grateful that you made this all clearer." Emmeline was still silent, even though she was staring at Justin. Justin added, "At least this will make you trust me again." Emmeline sighed. "If I didn't believe you I would have reported you to the police from the start, Justin." Emmeline said not too enthusiastically as she opened the car door, but Justin still held her back with a big smile on his face. "Ah, thank you, Miss. This is an honor for me." "Come on, Justin. Don't talk anymore. I have a headache. I want to go home to cool off." "Miss, wait. Your decision not to imprison Agatha is surprising. You are very forgiving, but I know this is almost incomprehensible. But fine. I leave all this to you. But is this all over? You're not thinking about something?" Emmeline, glanced back at Agatha's living room window. She remembered the conversation that had taken place between her, Justin, and Agatha earlier. Emmy then glanced mysteriously at Justin. "I don't want to lie to you. I don't think things are this simple. I think Howard was involved." "That's it," Justin breathed in and out of agreement and relief, showing he was glad he and Emmy thought the same thing. "You keep an eye on things. Don't lower your guard to anyone, Justin." "All right, Miss." Justin nodded and confirmed the order firmly. Only then did he stop preventing Emmeline from getting into her car. "Be careful on the road, Miss," Justin said as the Emmy's car started to slowly move away from him. ***
