Emmeline had just ended her phone call with Chloe. She put her phone on the bed feeling uneasy. It was all because of the news about Mr. Piers that Chloe had conveyed to her.
Emmeline was very close to Mr. Piers. Hearing that he was sick for Emmy was like hearing the news that her own family was sick. While Emmeline was still pensive, her gaze inadvertently fell on the necklace dangling on the table. The necklace she got from Corbin's brother's workshop. Emmy let out a short breath. She got up and walked over to the necklace. She looked at the necklace again
Emmeline furrowed her brows. She tried to remember where she had seen such a necklace before. Men's necklace with a pendant that reads the letter V. "Where have I seen anything like this?" sighed Emmy remembering.
Emmy reached for her cell phone. She kept several portraits of necklace models in her cell phone gallery. She wanted to know if she could get some information. But after only a few seconds she opened her cell phone and still got nothing, Anna was heard knocking on her door and calling her, "Miss Emmy!"
Emmeline was taken aback. "Oh, yes, Anna." Emmy hurriedly put down her cell phone, then went to open the door.
But when Emmy had just opened the door, Anna who was in front of her room had Aunt Aude who asked, "Anna, where did you put my clothes that I asked you to bring to my room earlier?"
"I've brought it to your room, Auntie."
"Really? Why didn't I see it?"
"It's there. I put it near the pile of photo frames of dad, mom, and Vincenzo you cleaned yesterday."
"Oh okay." Aude just walked away towards her room, while Emmeline, stupefied, was shocked as if something had hit her heart hard. Emmy heard the name Vincenzo mentioned by Anna clearly in front of her. While the last name of the young girl was Valsecchi.
Vincenzo Valsecchi! Emmy linked the name itself in her head.
"Ah, Miss Emmy, let's chat for a bit! I wanted to tell you how my friends commented on my appearance with you at the fashion show yesterday. They all loved it. But their over-enthusiasm was amusing to me." Anna laughed, but the ringing of her phone stopped her. "Ah, wait. Oh, my friend called me. Em just a minute, Miss Karfis. I'll pick up the phone for a moment." Anna spoke so much without pause, and just walked away. Emmeline, still stupefied, still immersed in the immense shock that had previously assaulted her.
Emmy then hurriedly closed the door of her room tightly. She ran to the table where she had put the necklace with the V-signed on it. Emmy grabbed the necklace and dangled it again in front of her face. "V. Vincenzo," Emmy sighed.
Emmeline then took her cellphone, then looked for one of the old photos in her gallery; her photo with Vincenzo Valsecchi.
"Hhh," Emmy sighed in a trembling voice and body. She got it. A photo taken when they were together the day before the inauguration of Karfis & Vin. Emmy only saw Vin wearing the necklace at that time. That was why the image of the necklace was vaguely out of reach in her memory. But Emmy looked at the photo very often, that's why the accessories were still familiar to her even though she didn't remember it very clearly. Emmy again zoomed in on Vin's photo, and looked again at the pendant that Vin was wearing. It was indeed a necklace similar to the one she was holding. Emmy went back to looking for other photos, if only she could find other traces.
"Oh, my God," Emmy shrieked weakly. She just fell down. Her legs felt so weak that she couldn't stand up for a moment. She zoomed in on one other photo she got. A photo of Mr. Piers and Vincenzo taken on the same day that Vin had an accident.
At that time, Emmy, Vin, and Mr. Piers intended to spend time together and have fun, to celebrate a small achievement achieved by Karfis & Vin, but something prevented Emmy from attending.
Mr. Piers then sent her the photo, which contained a picture of him as well as Vin. In the photo Vin was also wearing the necklace. Emmy once again took a good look at it, and her observations did not change.
Emmeline ruffled her own hair. Trying to remember what happened then.
At that time the conditions were so chaotic. It was a single vehicle accident. Vin also drove his own car and was not with anyone in his car at the time. The accident made Vin's condition so bad, and it made Emmy seem to lose half her strength. Emmeline couldn't stand that fact until her condition drops instantly, and she ended up being hospitalized, along with Vin. Unfortunately Vin did not even undergo a long treatment, because death took him. When Vin had to undergo a funeral, Emmy could not attend, because she was still being treated at the hospital.
Vincenzo was flown back to Italy, and it was Mr. Piers who accompanied him. All the clothes and accessories that Vin wore at the time of the accident were brought by Mr. Piers. Vin was indeed from Italy, and according to Mr. Piers, Vin had woken up from his coma and gave a will for Mr. Piers to take him back to Italy and bury him there. Vincenzo also made a will to give all of his shares to Emmeline at that time, but all this happened when Emmy was even unconscious. Emmy fell seriously ill.
"Hhh," Emmy sighed in the midst of her sobs. Emmeline's tears fell so hard. Unbearable. Emmeline found all the past sorrow back. All the sadness because of the loss of his mentor and best friend. Emmeline sobbed. Every now and then she covered her mouth to disguise the sound of her crying so that no one outside could hear. But after a while, Emmeline straightened herself on reflex, like a little girl who had just realized something. "Vin said he has no family? What does that mean? Then this family? Corbin, Anna, Aunt Aude? Who are they?"
Emmeline rose swiftly but unsteadily. Her mind was messed up. She walked but almost fell, until she leaned against the table beside her. She had to go out to ask all the things she didn't understand. Emmy glanced at the mirror for a moment. She looked really messed up. "No. I'll ask slowly, and I shouldn't look like a mess." Emmeline fixed her hair, and wiped away the remaining tears. Every time she wiped, the tears just kept coming out. "Huh, my God," she breathed bitterly. But she kept trying. Until after a while, she was finally able to calm down. Emmeline repeatedly took deep breaths and exhaled slowly. Having had enough, she walked out. She opened the door of her room, and closed it slowly. Her body still felt a little unsteady.
"Emmeline," said Corbin. He was apparently standing in front of her room. "You are okay?" Corbin looked closely at Emmeline's face. "Your eyes are puffy. Did you just cry?" Corbin tried to rub Emmeline's face, but Emmeline dodged.
"No, Corbin. I'm fine. I ... I just want ... I want to see Aunt Aude."
Corbin furrowed his brows. "What for?"
Emmeline was getting impatient with Corbin's question, so she just walked away without answering, but her body was so unsteady that she almost fell. Corbin swiftly grabbed Emmeline's body, preventing her from falling. "Emmy, what's wrong with you?"
"Corbin, take me to Aunt Aude's room. Take me to her."
"Ah, okay. I'll carry you there."
With Corbin's help, Emmy finally managed to bring herself up to Aunt Aude's room. The door opened slightly. They stopped right at the door.
"The door's open. Let's just go in, no problem," said Corbin, still in a position to support Emmy.
"No," said Emmy. She let go of Corbin's embrace. "Thanks for carrying me. Now please leave me, Corbin. I want to speak to Aunt Aude one-on-one."
"What's wrong? What's the matter? What do you want to talk about?"
"Corbin, please," said Emmy.
Corbin gave up. He sighed with an expression of incomprehension, worry, and curiosity, but he couldn't push Emmy any further. "Okay."
Corbin backed away slowly, then he saw Emmeline open the door to Aunt Aude's room wider, and enter slowly, then close the door again.
Corbin stepped closer to the door. He couldn't really just leave Emmy and Aunt Aude like that. He waited anxiously at the door.
