Emmeline returned to the office. Her chaotic thoughts made her not pay attention to the greetings of some of her subordinates in the office. Emmeline stepped so seriously, her mind focused only on her own problem, even though the subordinates had prepared with shining faces, about to congratulate and participate in celebrating the success of the fashion show that took place that day.
It had been a while since Emmeline arrived at the office. Mr. Piers came and asked permission to see Emmeline. Emmy allowed him and Mr. Piers then went into Emmy's room, met Emmy with a face full of smiles and happiness.
"Mr. Piers," said Emmeline.
"Ah, Dear, I saw on television how today's program made me feel like I was floating with joy. I didn't think you and Anna would play our emotions so well. Ah, if only the doctor had not forbade me to leave the house just because I was tired and my blood pressure had dropped. I'll be there watching the show live."
"Ah, how are you now, sir? Are you all right?" asked Emmy, who did find out earlier, Mr. Piers' personal doctor contacted her this morning to ask Mr. Piers's permission not to attend the fashion show because he needed to rest.
"He's just being overreacting," said Mr. Piers of his doctor who also happened to be his friend. "I'm fine and that's why I couldn't resist coming to the office at this time. I called one of the employees to ask if you were in the office or still out, and as soon as I was told you were in the office, I immediately come here. Ah, Dear. I'm really proud of you."
Emmeline smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Piers. You have also played a role in the work we carry in this event."
Emmeline's face, unable to completely look clean from the sour tinge. Mr. Piers frowned at that. "What's the matter? Why do I feel like you're a little sad?"
Emmeline widened her eyes. "I-me?"
"Yes!" said Mr. Piers.
"Ah, I-I ... I'm fine." Before Emmeline could say any further, a message notification sounded from her cell phone. Emmeline checked it.
Message from Anna.
'Miss Karfis, if you have time, may I see you? I wanted to ask you about Miss Lea's photo upload.'
Emmeline suddenly widened her eyes as she quickly read the message. She had not known beforehand that Anna had found out. Emmeline's hands suddenly became sweaty. Her face became increasingly frantic, and it did not go unnoticed by Mr. Piers.
"Dear, what's wrong with you?"
"Ah, nothing, Mr. Piers. Em—I'll excuse myself for a minute." Emmeline felt frantic and urgently wanted to wash her face. She's often like that when she's anxious. Mr. Piers just looked at her with an incomprehensible look.
"What's with her?" Mr. Piers sighed. Meanwhile, Emmeline's cell phone that was lying on the table rang again. This time the phone rings, and not just a message notification. Mr. Piers, glanced at Emmeline's phone screen. "Oh, Annaliese?" Mr. Piers sighed when he found that it was Anna who had called Emmeline. The phone kept ringing. Mr. Piers hesitated for a moment as to whether he should pick up the phone. But it was a call for Emmeline, and although Mr. Piers and Emmy were as close as father and daughter, yet still, Mr. Piers was doubtful at the time whether it would be okay if he picked up the phone.
The phone stopped ringing. Emmeline still hadn't come back from the restroom. Mr. Piers, then took his own cell phone, then decided to call Annaliese.
"Miss Karfis is in the toilet, Anna. What are you calling her for?" said Mr. Piers. "Oh yeah. How are you doing now, Anna? Are you feeling better? I saw your show earlier. I hope you're feeling better now."
"Ah, yes, Mr. Piers. I'm fine. Miss Chloe has already called me a doctor. Mr. Piers, I'm speaking in whispers right now, because if Miss Chloe finds out I'm not resting, she'll be mad at me. I waited for Miss Chloe to leave the house, because she said she was going back to work, but she hasn't left yet. I can't wait for more. I want to talk to Miss Emmy."
Mr. Piers frowned. "What's wrong? Is there an important matter? And—ah," Mr. Piers thought for a moment, "Dear, why do I see Miss Karfis looking like ... having a problem. Even though today's program went well."
"Ah, really, sir? You're not kidding?" said Annaliese.
"Yeah, that's right. Even just now, she looked flustered after reading the message on her cell phone. I don't know who it was, and—"
"Ah, my goodness! Was that a message from me?" Anna shrieked weakly. "Ah, maybe Miss Emmy is dizzy because she thinks about Miss Lea's upload. About her photos with Corbin. About Miss Lea's statement introducing Corbin as Miss Emmy's boyfriend on her social media." Annaliese said everything without pause.
"What?" interrupted Mr. Piers. Surprised by what he heard. "What do you mean, Anna? Miss Karfis and Corbin, dating?"
"Oh, my goodness, sir. I don't know if it's okay for me to tell you all this. Well, although I know you and Miss Emmy are very close, but maybe it's better if you ask Miss Emmy directly. She also has to explain everything directly to me. I know I should be—oh, no! Sir, Miss Chloe looks like she's headed this way. I have to hang up. We'll talk later."
Phone connection was lost.
Mr. Piers, lowered his cell phone from his ear with a stunned look, still finding it hard to believe what he had just heard.
Simultaneously, Emmeline walked back to him. Her face had looked a little calmer, but now it was Mr. Piers's turn to have an odd look on his face. His bewildered expression, accompanied by a blank stare as if he was filled with many thoughts, made Emmeline frown in disbelief.
"What's the matter, Mr. Piers?" Emmeline asked. She looked at Mr. Piers with both incomprehension and curiosity.
Mr. Piers placed his cell phone on the table slowly. "Tell me, Dear. What happened? Annaliese said, you ... you and Corbin going out? Is that true?" Emmeline was taken aback by the question. "Didn't you and Corbin just meet a while ago? W-when Corbin came to solve Annaliese's problem. It was your first time meeting him, wasn't it? W-what is this? What's really going on?"
Emmeline widened her eyes.
She instantly looked nervous. The words that finally managed to come out after a while also sounded extremely nervous.
"Em—Mr. Piers—this—this ... ah, my God." Emmeline had a really hard time explaining it.
