14 The next morning, I woke to the smell of maple sausage and fresh coffee and the sound of voices in the kitchen. I wasn’t exactly thrilled to know people were downstairs. I just wanted to sit on the couch and watch DVR’d episodes of The Magicians all day. But then, I heard Marcie say something that made Javier laugh, and I was struck by a wave of FOMO. So I pulled my hair back into a messy bun—an actual messy bun, not the fake cool kind—and headed downstairs.
