Bloodlust Unanswered

I was fuming and starving, sitting on a bench in the park with my arms crossed to keep from gripping at my aching throat. Uncle Otis had suggested I start feeding from the Source and I had stormed out angrily without stopping for a bag of blood. I regretted it as I watched the joggers pass by, the smell of their blood making my stomach rumble. I shivered as the cold hit me, realizing I had also forgotten my jacket. There was a light dusting of snow on the ground so the chill in the air made me shiver and tremble.  “Cold?” Came a voice from beside me, startling me. I turned to find a pale, white hair boy, dressed in a blue hoodie standing next to me, a shepherd's hook of sorts in hand. The hoodie seemed to have frost on it, like it had been hung outside whilst wet. I blinked at him rapidly, confused as I had never seen him before.  “Uh...yeah...who are you?” I asked, catching the scent of his blood. AB+, the best of all blood types. It was his turn to blink in surprise, as if I shouldn’t have responded to him.  “You can...see me?” He asked softly, eyes filling with a deep sadness that someone my age shouldn’t have.  “Of course I can! I’m not blind.” I said with a laugh, “Why wouldn’t I?” “Because...I’m Jack Frost.” He said softly, hesitantly.  “Jack Frost...as in the snow spirit, Jack Frost?” I asked in disbelief.  “You don’t believe me...but you can see me...How?” He asked, c*****g his head and exposing the pulse in his neck. I swallowed, feeling my thirst surge up in me.  “I dunno. If you’re Jack Frost, prove it.” I said, smiling kindly. He blinked again and nodded, lifting the shepherd's hook and tapping the bench beside me. Instantly a flower of frost formed there, beautiful and sparkling in the moonlight. “Wow…It’s beautiful.” I said softly, reaching out and touching the flower. Jack laughed softly when I frowned, the warmth of my hand melting the flower instantly.  “I can make more, never fear.” He said with a gentle smile, tapping the bench again, forming several more.  “Hey, you’re pretty cool. Wanna hang out at my house and play some video games with me? My best friend Henry is outta town and my aunt works late.” I asked, wanting to spend more time with someone who wasn’t quite human either.  “Really? I’ve never played video games before…” Jack asked, perking up a bit. I smiled brightly.   “Of course. I want to be your friend.” I said, standing up as an excuse to put some distance between us. His scent was driving me nuts, making my fangs throb behind my gums.  “Awesome! I’d love to!” He said, looking as if this had made his day.  “Then, follow me!” I said cheerily, starting off for the house. He fell into step beside me and I was glad that the crunch of snow beneath my feet hid the sounds of my grumbling stomach. I would have to try and sneak a blood bag when Jack wasn’t looking.  “Why were you out here all alone?” Jack asked me as we walked, trying to fill the silence.  “I got in an argument with my uncle and went for a walk to cool off.” I said, leaving out what the argument had been about and that said reason was gnawing at my stomach. Did he have to walk so close? And how does a frost spirit smell so good anyway? Should he be too cold for what my thirst craved? I shook my head to rid myself of the thoughts, thinking about his blood wasn’t going to make it any easier.  Finally we made it to my house and I led Jack inside. Stopping in the living room, I told him to pick out a game while I got some snacks. Slipping into the kitchen, I loaded a plate with Aunt Nelly’s chocolate chip cookies and grabbed a bag of chips before I reached into the freezer and pulled out a bag of blood. I tossed it into the microwave and started it before carrying the snacks back into the living room. I paused in the doorway when I found Jack trying to put a game in the Xbox...upside down.  “It goes the other way.” I murmured, smiling as I walked in an set the plate on the table with the chips. My voice must have startled him because he jolted and dropped his staff, making it fall and thump to the floor, leaving a thin layer of ice beneath it. I laughed softly. “Didn’t mean to startle you.” I said, as he turned to smile sheepishly at me, his cheeks slightly flushed as he flipped the game over and put it into the console.  “It’s okay. I’m just not used to being seen and actually being talked to.” He admitted, picking his staff up off the floor and plopping down on the couch. I smiled brightly, patting his shoulder and regretting it because I could feel his pulse, the action making his scent swirl around me again. I swallowed thickly, keeping the smile as I handed him a controller.  “Well get used to it. I can see you, Frost, and all I do is talk.” I joked before heading back into the kitchen. I grabbed out the blood bag and bit into it quickly, trying to ease the worst of the throbbing in my fangs. It quieted the grumbles in my stomach but barely eased my thirst. I groaned, it would have to do. It was the last one until Nelly got home. I grabbed a couple sodas and returned to the living room as I looked at the main screen of the game Jack had chosen.  “How do I play?” He asked as I sat down beside him and grabbed up the other controller.  “This is my favorite game! You have to kill as many people as possible and try to beat the current high score. I’ll put it on two player so we can play together.” I said, smiling as his nodded, then laughing as I realized he was holding the controller backwards. “The controller goes the other way. Like this.” I said softly, holding up my controller so he could see the way I was holding it.  “Whoops.” He said, righting the controller as I set up two player for us. I blush softly, his ignorance was adorable. Wait...what are you doing brain? He’s a guy, I am not gay. I shook my head and continued playing the game, unable to fully dismiss the scent of him. Dear god, why didn’t I get away from him when I had the chance?
