Chapter 65 War on the Horizon

1425 Words

Caitlyn's POV The night was a blur of blood and fire. Smoke thickened the air, stinging my eyes, burning my throat. My legs ached from running, but I couldn’t stop—not when death chased us through the trees, not when the scent of burning wood and spilled blood still clung to my skin. Raymond’s grip on my wrist was tight, nearly bruising, as he pulled me forward. Kane was on my other side, his breaths ragged, his steps faltering. In my arms, Jane whimpered, her tiny body burning with fever, her skin unnaturally pale. Behind us, the battlefield raged. Snarls and roars echoed through the trees. The clash of steel, the sickening crunch of bones breaking. The Silver Moon warriors were fighting, but the Abyssal Order was relentless. The Order wasn’t here for the pack. They were here for me.
