The slight headache woke me up. I snuck out of the house after leaving the shirt folded on his bed, put on my club outfit, and left with my heels in my hand.
I spent the remainder of my time, putting together the CCTV footage of Lucas and me from the club to his apartment. Now I just needed the bride to take the bait.
"What the f**k, Anna?"Maxwell asked as I rushed into the wedding hall after staying up to upload the video.
"Sorry."
"Where have you been?" He asked me as I wiped the sweat from my face.
"I am here now, that's all that matters," I replied. He raised his brow at me and shook his head.
"Just follow me." He instructed and I obeyed.
We turned into a corridor and through another corridor before crossing to the next building.
"Hey, girls." Maxwell greeted as two girls turned to face him with glee.
"Max!"
"We need a new veil, Max." One with big frames complained as she showed him her design.
"She didn't like it?" Maxwell asked.
"Something about not feeling it." The other girl replied as he scoffed.
"She's not supposed to feel it, she is supposed to wear it on the crown of her head." He stated obviously as the one in glasses looked at her partner with a frown.
"Well…I don't know. The bride has to be happy for the wedding to succeed." She said.
"Um….you can always…" I began as Maxwell encouraged, "Go on."
"You can always use a floral crown and then add a long flowing cape to the gown," I told them.
"A cape?" The one with glasses drew on her book while the other girl asked me.
"Yes. The veil sometimes hinders the sight of the bride and if not clipped properly, it can mess up the hair. But, if you use the cape, it gives the same illusion from behind and her face is the main attraction while she walks down the aisle." I explained.
"What do you think?" Maxwell asked them.
"I mean…it's not such a bad idea." The girl in glasses said and the other girl concurred after looking at the drawing, "Yeah, I actually think we can make it work."
"Yeah. And that's why she is the new addition to your team." Maxwell said as they gasped.
"Oh. We weren't expecting any new members."
"Last-minute addition." He added.
"Welcome, I am Flora." The girl with glasses said while the other girl hugged me and said, "Alicia."
"Anna," I told them my name and Maxwell gave us extra instructions.
"Are you from here?" Alicia asked me after Maxwell walked out.
"No. First time in the city." I told her as she clapped excitedly.
"Wow. I grew up here." She told me.
"Hi, girls." I heard a soft voice say as we all turned to look at, "Jenny!"
"Um…you are?" Jenny asked me as I admired her beauty. She wore a casual gown and held four packages in her hands. Her hair was was wrapped with a scarf and her eyes were covered with sunglasses.
"Anna, a new member," Flora told her as she raked her eyes over my cheap outfit.
"I didn't ask for one." She remarked as she removed the sunglasses to reveal the bluest eyes ever.
"She brought up this cool idea for your gown," Alicia showed her whole showing her design in the book.
“I love this idea. You can make the floral gown, I want it to go with my bouquet." She told me with a bright smile.
"I'll work on the cape with Flora." Alicia said as Jenny clapped gleefully, "Oh my gosh, I'm actually getting married."
I frowned at the statement as I held the scoff behind my tongue.
She was so happy to get married to a killer.
I had to make sure she didn't end up like my sister.
"You feel excited?" I asked her with fake interest.
"Nervous actually." She said as I raised a brow, "I want this to work out so badly. I really want to spend the rest of my life with him." She explained as I worked on the design.
"How did you guys meet?" I asked and she answered, "Business arrangement."
"Oh."
"I know. It's not common or advisable, but I like him." She said as she blushed.
"I heard he is rich and hot!" Alicia chimed in.
"That's not all there is to it. But, he is very hot. We haven't done anything yet, he said we should wait, but he is very considerate and I can tell he will be the best father ever." She swooned as I felt a pang of guilt.
"He makes you happy, that's good," Flora said.
"Pink peonies are a nice touch." She remarked as I nodded.
"Are you staying for the wedding?" She asked me.
"What time?"I asked, pretending to be ignorant.
"Like two or three hours from now." She responded as I nodded with a smile. I wouldn't miss it for the world.
We did every necessary fitting and it was thirty minutes remaining until the commencement of the wedding.
"Do I look beautiful?" Jenny asked softly as I replied, "Exceptionally beautiful."
"I hope he likes it. I'm so anxious about our wedding night." She whispered as Flora scrunched her nose.
"You shouldn't be nervous at all. If you love him and he loves you, then today will be the happiest day of your life." Alicia assured her.
"Jenny…" Flora called as we all turned.
The plan was in motion.
"Yes…what is it?" Jenny asked as she stepped down the platform and walked to her.
“I…think…”Flora stuttered as the smile fell from Jenny’s face.
“Speak up!” Jenny exclaimed in a concerned tone.
"You should see this," Flora said as she motioned the tablet towards her.
"Mr. King never returned with the driver after the bachelor party," Alicia remarked.
"What do you mean?" Jenny asked with a tremble in her voice as she snatched the tablet from her hands.
"From the party. He drove home with her." Flora said as Jenny watched the video I uploaded early this morning.
"That's not possible. Alex can't do that to me…he wouldn't." Jenny said in panic as Flora asked her, "Do you know the woman?"
"No…God, no. I'm so scared. What if…"Jenny stuttered as tears pooled in her eyes.
"You can't cry. It will ruin your makeup." I told her as she exclaimed angrily,
"I'm sure this is nothing. He can get any girl he wants, he wouldn't choose a club tramp, right?"I winced at her statement and assured her, "Right. Plus he has you. What more can he ask for?"
"I am not doing this anymore. I need to speak with Alex." Jenny stated as the video gained views on different platforms.
"Jenny…" Alicia began as she snapped angrily, "He has to explain!"
She rushed to the groom's chambers with Flora while I peeked into the hall.
The wedding hall was filled and everyone had a device in their hands. Lucas King was going to get ruined and I was all for it.
"And then you added the dirty spawn to my wedding team. Haven't you done enough?" Jenny screamed in response as I contemplated going inside the groom’s chambers.
"I did no such thing. Behave yourself and stop causing a scene." I heard Lucas say.
Alicia stormed out of the chambers and saw me, "You evil piece of s**t!"
She dragged me by my hair and pulled me into the chambers with her.
"I won't tolerate that."
"I don't care. You lost my trust and respect when you laid in bed with that tramp from the club. Take your stupid ring ." Jenny snapped at him and flung the ring onto his chest.
"Jenny…" I began as she turned to me and angrily slapped me.
"You…you b***h!"
I winced in pain as she pointed at me, "This is who you chose over me?"
"You." Luca spat while I pulled myself away from Alicia's grip.
"No…no. I didn't know. Look, Jenny…" I begged Jenny as she pushed past me.
"Save it. She doesn't want to hear any more do your lies." Flora told me.
"New girl in the city and you had your eyes on the richest bachelor in the city. Dirty good digging w***e!" Alicia snarked as I bowed my head while the guilt clawed at my heart.
"That wasn't my intention. I never knew…look, he never said he was married." I explained.
Why was I getting slapped and what about him?
"Shut up and let me handle this." Lucas interrupted angrily and held Jenny's hand.
"She means nothing to me, Jenny. But, you do. I need this wedding to hold, my business is at stake." He told her. She looked at him with her red teary eyes and sneered, "Well, maybe you should have thought of that before cheating on me!"
Jenny stormed out with Alicia and Flora at her side. I felt relief seeing his face covered in confusion and despair.
I stood and walked towards the exit as she left.
"Where the f**k are you going to?" Lucas asked me as the armed guard blocked my exit.
"Away from here," I replied with a frown on my face.
"You are going nowhere." He said in a venomous tone as I flinched.
"What?"
"You did this, you planned all this!" He exclaimed angrily as I scoffed.
"You did that yourself. Driving me to your apartment." I reminded him.
"I've already lost her, I have nothing else to lose." He said as he looked at me with no emotion on his face while he snatched the gun from the guard.
"It doesn't mean—" I began before he cut off, "You cannot say the same for yourself. You will do as I say, unless…." He threatened bitterly.
“Unless what?”
"I have lost everyone…I have no one left. And I will be damned if I lose any more while you leave unscathed." I snapped angrily at him as his grip tightened on the gun.
He approached me intimidatingly and let out a bitter and hollow laughter, "I will find everyone you make contact with, and if that doesn't satisfy me…you still have your life and that's enough for me to take."
My face went pale at the hearing of his statement while he stared down at me, his honey brown eyes lacked any emotion as he threatened,
"You are walking down the aisl
e…either that or your life."
I peered slowly down at the gun, and I just knew he was not an amateur.
