I am speechless right now, listening to my uncle cry about how my mother dying is his fault. I can’t say that I agree, but I also can’t say that I don’t. My eyes are burning with the tears that are threatening to escape and I can taste blood where my lip is clenched between my teeth. Blinking away the tears I clear my throat to swallow the sob laying in wait. “Uncle, why haven’t you ever told me? When I brought in the Ashland kids you continued to let me be oblivious to how close they actually might be to me. Why?”
