Our time at the zoo got rather tense once we were introduced to Dad’s new girlfriend. She is very pretty, almost unnaturally so. She has blonde hair and eyes so dark brown that I wonder if she may wear contacts. She claims to be about 8 years younger than my dad, but her mannerisms seem as if she may be older. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is that makes her seem so off putting, but eventually I’m sure I’ll figure it out. Hopi and her two kids decide to join along with our little group as we continue to make our way through the other exhibits.
I keep my eye on Hopi from a distance and even with the front she puts up about being so pleasant I can see her grimace my way every now and again through my peripherals. When I do give her my full attention however I can see a l
