TW: SELF HARM Alana's POV While sitting on the bathroom floor, I suck in a breath as the blade slides across my skin. Relief and relaxation courses through me as the pain becomes more numbing with every slice. I sit and watch the blood drip before I erupt in a fit of sobs. It shouldn’t hurt this bad. It shouldn’t affected me Who was he to tell me what I was, and what I wasn’t. Who was he to deem me beautiful or not? No matter how many times I tried to convince myself that it didn’t matter what anyone thought that simply wasn’t the truth. “Alana?” Chance knocks on the door, and my eyes widen. “f**k,” I whisper, quickly grabbing the pack of blades to hide them. “Are you alright? Why do I smell blood?” “s**t, s**t, s**t,” I dump the blades back into its hiding spot behind the sink, and run the water over my hands. “Uh – give me a second.” “Are you hurt?” “I’m on my period,” I blurt and he pauses for a second. “That doesn’t smell like period blood.” “Chance – ew. Just give me a sec!” Chance and I lived together ever since my parents passed away two years ago, and well let’s just say he’s gotten accustomed to a lot of things I mop the floor quickly, placing the mop under running water in the shower. When I’m done, I exit the bathroom and find him leaning on the wall. "Were you crying?" He asks immediately, cupping my cheeks, and I swat his hands away. "No," I lie, stepping away from the door and into the licing room. "Alana," he calls in a warning tone as I settle onto the couch. "Can werewolves be mated to humans?" "Sure,” stunned by my questionable outburst, he stutters a bit, “on very rare occasions, why?” I itch at my forehead, "I'm Leo's mate." "Leo Warren? The jerk going to our school?" I nod, ignoring the sudden need to defend Leo. He growls and before I know what's happening I'm pushed against the wall, our faces hovering across from each other. “Chance, what’re you doing?” "Reject him." “I – I was going to . . . but what are you doing?” As if only noticing now that he had me pressed against the wall, he drops me gently and takes a step away from me. “You can’t be Leo’s mate,” he mutters, “you’re supposed to be mine.” “Uh – what,” I raise an eyebrow, my lips parted in confusion, “Chance I hate to break it to you but I rather learn how to chew water than to be with a werewolf.” “Yet the universe placed you with one, obviously we’re meant to be,” he steps forward to take my hand, and I take a step back. “I don’t think that’s how it works,” I shake my head. He reaches for me again but before he could, the door comes crashing in. Both of us are shocked to find Leo, standing in all the naked glory. He was raging, his pupils dilated, his eyes body lurching with rage spasms. “What the f**k is going on,” I place my hands on my hips, “why are you here?” “Why are you near my mate,” he addresses Chance before turning to me, “and you, why are you allowing him to touch you? I could feel your emotions all the way from my home.” I sputter, words not spilling out of my mouth fast enough, "Your mate? Have you completely lost your mind?!" Leo’s head tilts as if he by the mood change, “you asked me to reject you, you racist f**k, and not your barging in here as if we’re happily married wiith five children and you’ve just found out I’m having an affair.” "I know,” he says slowly, his hand out, "but I want to talk about this." I grab one of Chance’s shorts, and throw it at him, “I can’t take you seriously when you’re standing here naked.” "Reject him, Alana," Chance whispers, and I eye Leo. His places his hand out towards me, as if hesitant to approach. "How?" I whisper back. "Repeat after me, yeah?" I nod in confirmation, and Chance continues, "I, Alana Winters." “Alana, wait –,” "I, Alana Winters," I repeat. "Hereby reject you Leo Warren," "Hereby reject you Leo-" A piercing growl erupts from Leo, and as he glares at Chance, his claws rip from his finger. My eyes gloss with fear as his heavy footsteps echo across the room, he was going to attack Chance. "Leo, you asked me to do this," I remind him quickly, and he pauses for a moment, his eyes fill with guilt, “it’s what’s best for the both of us. I don’t want to be with a werewolf, and you don’t want to be with a bla – me.” He turns to me, his hands outstretched, “come with me.” It was hard to deny that I felt a pull towards him, almost as if I can't help but go with him. “Alana, what’re you doing?” "I'll be right back," I assure him Chance, gently wrapping my fingers across Leo’s. As soon as we were alone he pulls me into his chest, inhaling my scent. My mouth runs dry as my head laid on his naked chiseled chest. Why did this racist prick smell, and feel so good? Leo's POV Trtuh be told as I held Alana to my chest, I couldn’t expect explain what happened. I felt my mate being pleasured by someone that wasn't me obviously and my wolf snapped, the neck thing I know I’m pushing through her front door. "I'm sorry," I stated, as we pull away, "I- I didn't mean to talk to you like that earlier. You're my mate and I should accept you as you are . . .” “This genuinely sounds like some bullshit,” she snaps, and my wolf purrs in arousal. He really enjoyed how unfiltered she was, how she didn’t bow, or accept anything less than what she believed she deserved. With that being said, I knew I had to come correct if I was going to get anywhere with her. What I said early was unthinkable, and I deserved everything she was going to through at me. "You're sorry?" She scoffs, "well, that just fixes everything. I guess I’m no longer than ugly, stupid, black b***h anymore, am I. Yay me.” “Alana –,” “No Leo, you are mad weird,” she steps back on one leg, looking up at me with pure and utter disdain, “how dare you apologize to me after you stood in front of me earlier and degraded me because of my skin color? Now you wanna do what? Be with me?” “You’re telling me you changed your mind within two hours,” she grins, “this must be a joke.” "Give me a month." I blurt and she her grin falters as she furrows her eyebrows, “because you’re right, two hours is ridiculous. Let me prove to you that the asshole you encountered earlier, is not all there is to me.” "No,” she replies plainly without a htugh. “I’m not going to give up,” I tell her, “you’re my mate and –“ “I don’t want to be with a dog, Leo, so lucky for you it’s not just because you’re a bigot, and a chauvinist.” “Technically, I think dog can be considered a slur for my people –“ “I’m gonna head back inside.” “Okay hold on,” she sighs frustratingly but stops nevertheless, she was curious, “one month. I prove to you that I’m a good person, an even better mate, and that we aren’t just hungry, flea infested dogs.” She ponders on it for second, tapping her feet against the grass. “Well I never call you flea infested, you’re the one that said it,” she jokes and I tilt my head at her, awaiting her answer. "Please,” I clasp my hands together, and she shuts her eyes tightly. "I have a Chance inside and I don’t think he likes you very much,” my lips twitch as she tries to joke again, but I don't let up.  She sighs and nods. "Okay,” She agrees reluctantly. "Okay?" I repeat in disbelief. “Okay,” she repeats with another nod, and I grin. I couldn’t help but slam her into me, and she tenses but pats my head awkwardly. I chuckle knowing that she’ll get there.
