Chapter 6: Departure 2

The three fat snakes squatted on the ground, frantically picking up the grains of glutinous rice and clumsily putting them into the bags. These tasks that even a three-year-old child could do seemed so difficult in their hands, and they were sweating in no time. Dong Qing looked at them awkwardly and suddenly felt annoyed for no reason. "You guys can go now! Take the money with you." Dong Qing turned and walked into the bathroom, only coming out after their footsteps had completely disappeared, and slammed the door shut in anger. Looking at the empty room, Dong Qing's heart felt hazy, as if this had never happened before, as if Mo Sen had never appeared in her life. Only the ten stacks of money on the table confirmed his brief and real presence in her life. Looking at the mess on the ground, Dong Qing could only smile helplessly. Rolling up her sleeves, she started to clean up and organize the things on the ground. When she was almost finished, Dong Qing suddenly remembered something and reached into her pocket for her phone. "Hello, have you found a suitable roommate, Sister Ya Lan?" "Not yet! What's up, Dong Qing?" "Sister Ya Lan, don't bother looking anymore. I'll come and share the apartment with you." "That's great. Hey, when I asked you a few days ago, you didn't agree, did you?" "No, it's just that my landlord is so annoying. Every time I see him, he's always talking nonsense and it's disgusting to look at him." Dong Qing had no choice but to put up with her pitiful landlord. "Isn't your landlord a woman?" "She's the landlady, not the landlord." Why was Ya Lan, who was usually efficient, suddenly becoming so talkative? Could it be that she didn't believe the excuse I made up? "Okay, when are you planning to move in?" "Today, can I come now?" Dong Qing didn't want to stay here any longer, but she didn't know why. "Do you need me to come over and help?" Yalan's kind voice came through the phone. "No need, Yalan. I don't have much stuff. Just give me the specific address and I'll take a taxi there." Dongqing nervously rejected Chen Yalan's offer. She couldn't let Yalan come over, what if she ran into the landlord or landlady? It would be awkward for her. She had to do everything herself. Luckily, she didn't have much stuff. The basic household items were all provided by the landlord, including the computer. So Dongqing only needed to pack her clothes and she was almost done. She didn't even plan on taking her new bedding, it probably still had Mosen's scent on it. She didn't want this incident to affect her future life, she wanted to completely erase this memory from her mind. Her goal was to make as much money as possible. Looking at the money on the table, Dongqing calculated that after buying clothes and medicine for that guy, she still made a good profit from this move. She happily snapped her fingers and put the money in her bag. After working for over an hour, Dongqing finally finished. It was already dark outside. She put her packed bag together and carefully checked the room, cleaning it thoroughly. After double-checking, Dongqing nodded in satisfaction and sat on the bed to rest. Looking around the room, Dongqing gradually became absent-minded, as if she was dreaming. The events of a few days ago replayed in her mind until they couldn't form a clear picture anymore. She reluctantly snapped out of it and sat there in a daze. After a while, Dongqing got up, picked up her bag, and walked out of the room. She locked the door and stood there for two minutes before finally leaving. She handed the key to the landlady, who kindly asked if there was anything that made her stay unsatisfactory. The landlord also warmly invited her to have a meal. Dongqing blushed and quickly declined, saying she needed to catch a bus back home. She thanked them for their hospitality and left with a guilty smile. Walking on the road, Dongqing kept apologizing in her heart. Facing the landlord couple, she felt extremely guilty for not only lying to them, but also slandering the kind Mr. Landlord. After repeating her apologies countless times, Dongqing finally stopped. Surrounded by the night scenery of T city, she suddenly felt a fondness for this international metropolis, which was a far cry from her initial thoughts when she first arrived. At that time, she was repulsed and confused by the prosperity and trends of T city, wishing she could turn around and take the next bus back. Having never traveled far from home, she felt helpless and scared in this unfamiliar city. Standing at the station entrance, she was at a loss and didn't know where to go. After finally calming down, she tried to find a place to stay, but almost got tricked into being sold. Luckily, she was clever enough to see through the facade and escaped. Then she met Mr. Landlord, who probably saved her from sleeping on the streets for who knows how long. Although he didn't genuinely want to help her, Dongqing was still grateful. She could understand that life is not easy for anyone and everyone has to make a living. The neon lights were flashing and the dreamy night scenery made Dongqing want to take a walk and experience the prosperity of T city. Looking at the well-dressed people on the street, she couldn't help but feel that the world was unfair. They lived in tall buildings, drove cars, wore designer clothes, and ate delicacies. On the other hand, the people in the area she used to live in worked hard day and night, barely making enough to survive, just hoping to improve their family's lives. Sigh, there's no point in comparing oneself to others. As she walked, Dongqing started to feel tired from carrying so many things. She hailed a taxi, put her things in, and told the driver the address. The car drove towards her destination. When she arrived, she saw Yalan waiting in front, as if she had been waiting for a long time. Dongqing was touched and quickly got out of the car, calling out, "Yalan, how long have you been waiting?" "Not long, I was afraid you wouldn't find your way, so I came down to wait," Yalan said with a smile as she helped her with her luggage. When they arrived, Dongqing saw Yalan standing in front, as if she had been waiting for a long time. Dongqing was very touched and got off the car, calling out, "Yalan, how long have you been waiting?" "Not long, I was afraid you wouldn't find your way, so I came down to wait." Yalan said with a smile as she helped her with her luggage. After paying for the car, Dongqing and Yalan chatted and laughed as they carried their things up to the second floor. Once inside, Dongqing's eyes lit up. The place was much better and more spacious than the one she had rented. Of course, the rent was also doubled, no wonder Yalan was looking for a roommate. Living alone not only made her lonely, but also wasted space. After moving her things into her room, Dongqing sat on the bed and smiled. This place was really nice, and she could accept sharing the rent with Yalan. The best part was having a roommate like Yalan, whom she could talk to and not feel lonely anymore. After quickly settling in, Yalan came in and called her to dinner. Dongqing felt like she was coming home. If she had known it would be like this, she would have agreed when Yalan first asked her. Holding onto Yalan's arm, Dongqing sincerely said, "Yalan, you're so kind. You even prepared the bedding for me. Can I treat you to a meal one day?" "Don't be silly, let's go eat now." "Okay." After dinner, Dongqing felt very tired and didn't talk much with Yalan before going back to her room to rest. Days passed by peacefully, and Dongqing seemed to have truly forgotten about Mosun.
