Morning light shimmered over Lumira’s crystal towers, but the city was far from peaceful.
News of the shadow dragon attack had spread quickly, and now everyone knew the Princess of Eldoria had returned.
Alora stood on a balcony of the council tower, staring at the floating bridges below.
“So the relics are the only way to stop Nyxara?” she asked.
“Yes,” Cael replied. “Each relic holds a piece of ancient magic created by the first Enchanted rulers.”
Alora turned toward him.
“Where is the first one?”
Cael unfolded an ancient map. Its surface glowed faintly with magical symbols.
He pointed to a dark region in the north.
“The Blade of Stars.”
“That sounds powerful,” Alora said.
“It is,” Cael answered. “But it is hidden in the Cavern of Echoes, a place guarded by ancient magic and dangerous creatures.”
Captain Lyra entered the room.
“I’m coming with you,” she said firmly.
Alora blinked. “Why?”
Lyra crossed her arms.
“Because if Nyxara’s forces appear, you’ll need someone who actually knows how to fight.”
Cael chuckled softly.
“I suppose the princess could use a warrior.”
Alora smiled slightly.
“Then let’s go.”
Within the hour, they left Lumira through another glowing portal.
When they stepped out, the world had changed again.
Towering mountains surrounded them. Cold wind rushed across the rocky cliffs.
Far ahead, a giant cave opening yawned like the mouth of a sleeping beast.
“The Cavern of Echoes,” Cael said quietly.
From inside the darkness came a deep, rumbling growl.
Lyra gripped her sword.
“I don’t think it’s empty.”
Alora took a deep breath.
“Good,” she said.
“Let’s find the Blade of stars.”
