CHAPTER 4- THE HIDDEN PASSAGE

The guardian did not lead Alora deeper into the forest the way she expected. Instead, he guided her toward the oldest oak tree she had ever seen — its trunk wide enough to swallow a house, its bark etched with glowing runes. The air around it hummed softly, like a living heartbeat. Alora could barely stand. The burst of magic had drained her, leaving her trembling. “Lean on me,” the guardian said gently. “Who are you?” she managed to ask. “My name is Cael,” he replied. “I was sworn to protect your bloodline long before you were born.” He pressed his palm against the oak’s bark. The runes shimmered brighter. Slowly, the trunk split open, revealing a spiral staircase descending into silver light. Alora stared. “That wasn’t there before.” “It has always been there,” Cael said. “Just not for human eyes.” They stepped inside. The tree sealed behind them with a low echoing thud. The staircase wound downward into a vast underground chamber carved from crystal and roots. Glowing vines lit the walls. Water flowed gently through narrow channels in the stone, reflecting flickers of blue and gold light. “This is a Sanctuary of Eldoria,” Cael explained. “One of the last.” In the center of the chamber stood a tall mirror framed in twisting silver branches. Its surface shimmered like liquid moonlight. Alora felt drawn to it. “What is that?” she whispered. “The Mirror of Origins,” Cael answered. “It reveals truth — not illusion.” Her heart pounded as she stepped closer. The mirror rippled. Instead of her reflection, she saw a grand palace floating above clouds… and two figures standing proudly at its gates. A man with golden eyes. A woman with silver hair. They looked exactly like her. Alora’s breath caught. “They’re alive…” she whispered. Cael did not respond. But his silence told her everything.
