Chapter 5

1032 Words
Saturday mornings were usually very quiet at the Bishop house. Serina, who normally ate breakfast in her pajamas on weekends, had gotten dressed before coming downstairs. She’d thrown on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that read “I’m not a book worm. I’m a book dragon.” Nothing too fancy. Zack and Emmett were still sleeping upstairs. Sam had a morning shift at the hospital and was already there. Her dad, Patrick was probably playing golf. He liked to do that whenever the weather was nice. That left Serina with the whole of downstairs to herself until the guys finally woke up. Knowing her brother, that might not be until around lunchtime. Serina poured herself a bowl of cereal and settled down in front of the TV. She should probably be studying, but she figured a little TV with breakfast couldn’t hurt. Zack woke up around ten thirty when a neighbour started mowing their lawn. He groaned. Emmett was also starting to stir as well and rolled over, smacking Zack in the face. Emmett had a queen-sized bed, so they’d shared. Emmett was also a blanket hog. Rolling out of bed, Zack headed straight for the bathroom to pee before Emmett woke up and beat him to it. By the time he was done, his best friend was sitting upright, rubbing sleep out of his eyes. “Bloody noisy lawn mower.” He complained. Zack just smiled, reaching for his phone. The battery was showing only eight percent, but when Zack checked his bag, he couldn’t find his charger. He’d obviously forgotten to grab it from his house. “Do you have a charger for this?” He asked Emmett who peered through bleary eyes at the phone's charging port. Zack already knew that Emmett’s phone charger was different and wouldn’t fit. “I think Serina’s got one in her room. She has the same phone as you do.” Emmett told him. “Cool. Do you think she’d mind?” “Probably. But take it anyway. She won’t even notice.” Zack intended to ask her first. If she was in her room. It’s not like he’d be needing it for long, he just needed enough charge to last until he went home later to grab more stuff. So, while Emmett headed off to the bathroom to shower, Zack went to Serina’s bedroom door. The door was open and the room empty. He figured that she must have been downstairs. Her room was a little more cluttered than Emmett’s was. But it was still relatively tidy. She also had a bookshelf in there that was almost completely full. He stepped into the room and immediately spotted the charger next to the bed. It was pinned under a book with a shirtless guy and a wolf on the cover. He picked it up. “Moonlight Medic.” He read aloud. It sounded dumb to him. Curious, he flipped the book open to where it was marked, and then had to flip back a few pages to fully grasp what was going on. After a few seconds, he got why Serina was so far into the book. “What the hell are you doing?” Zack turned so fast he nearly dropped the book he was reading. Serina stood in the doorway, hands on her hips and looking pissed as hell. “This,” He held up the book to her, “Is porn.” Serina’s cheeks flamed red as her anger turned to embarrassment. “Give that back!” She demanded, although her voice was a little meeker than it had been a second ago. “No.” Zack opened the book again and began reading. “Addelyn shivered as Ryder’s lips skimmed over the skin of her abdomen. His warm firm hands grasping her thighs as he travelled down wards. He was almost there, level with her…” “That’s enough!” She demanded. Serina made to grab the book, but he held it away out of her reach. “Give it to me.” She pleaded, the front of her body now pressed against his side as he turned to keep the book away from her. Her soft warmth slammed into him, and his own body started to react. Damn. The steamy scenes in the book had been turning him on and now, with Serina so close, he could smell her shampoo. She had a slight coconut and argon oil scent that he suddenly decided that he really liked. “Zack!” His name on her lips was the last straw. Zack tossed the book on the bed and moved close to her. His hands rested on her hips and his lips pressed to her ear. “Is this the kind of thing you like Serina?” He whispered. Not sure if she had noticed the growing bulge in his pajama pants. “Do you want to try a little role play?” His voice had deepened, came out a little husky as he suddenly pictured doing to her what the couple in the book had just been about to do. Serina shoved him. He smiled at the effort it took for her to get him to step back. He saw her face. She was bright red and furious. “Get. Out.” Zack chuckled lightly and held his hands up in surrender. “Just think about it.” He said as he finally left her room. Serina’s heart was racing. What the hell was that? Zack had never looked at her like that. Not even the night before when he had seen way more than she’d have liked. A flood of teenaged hormones coursed through her body. Had his offer been serious? Did he really want to do that to her? A brief image of him on his knees in front of her, his lips pressed to her belly flashed in her mind. She shivered, although she wasn’t sure if it was caused by repulsion, or appreciation. Either way, Serina shook the image from her mind and picked up the book he’d so carelessly tossed. Luckily the cover wasn’t damaged. This one was a library book.
