Claire's POV We didn't speak during the drive back to the mansion. The silence in the car felt heavy and suffocating. I gazed out the window, fighting back the tears that wanted to fall. The divorce papers in my bag seemed to burn against my side. This wasn't my home anymore. It had never really been my home. Just a place where I'd been foolish enough to believe in dreams that were never going to come true. When we arrived, I walked straight to the bedroom without glancing at Lucius. My suitcase was already packed. I'd done it last night, knowing this day would come. What I hadn't expected was being watched like I might steal something. I touched the edge of the bed where we'd spent so many nights together. Where I'd fallen in love with a man who never truly cared about me
