Elizabeth wants the life that Carol is leading, and she knows that to achieve it, she needs to get into Carol's circle and meet her friends in Hollywood. She wants to walk in public again without worrying that Martin will see her, and she wants to lead a normal life. She hates having to stay at home. Elizabeth wants to finish her studies. She studied acting for a while, and as Carol talks about the film industry, Elizabeth dreams of becoming an actress again. If she is famous and an actress, surely Martin will see her in another light.
