Harper remembers the journal and the photo of Dean and his father after Dean, and his grandparents left. But, unfortunately, she forgot to give it to Dean. Harper leaves her parents' house and goes to her apartment. She takes out her bag and looks at the photo of the young boy and his dad. Harper can see the man in the picture is smiling, but his eyes are not smiling with his lips. It is as if he wants to pretend to be happy for his son. She read the letter that Dean's father left him, and she felt that Dean's father was writing the letter to make his son believe that he loved his mother and hoped that his son would not condemn love. Harper could not help but feel that Dean's parents were not happy. Harper looks at the journal and picks it up.
