“I don't understand what you mean.” Xander answered calmly. He knew quite well the kind of person Zack turned into after his wife's death, so he was going to take it slow with him.
“I saw you with her today. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about?” Zack asked. The way Xander looked at him innocently flared up his anger. He hated pretense and won't stand it.
Xander, on the other hand, sighed. He had no idea of what Zack was talking about, but he needed to make it clear to him that he and Amber were just friends and that nothing was going on between them even though he wished for Amber to give him her attention. He had loved her for a very long time, and he still does, but she already had a boyfriend.
He sighed and bowed his head. “It's not what you're thinking about, Alpha. Amber has been my friend for a very long time. We were close friends before she went to school in another country. I heard she was back and decided to go see her. Believe me, it was just a friendly visit.” He explained.
Zack sighed and stormed out of the room. His anger hadn't died down and even though he was reasoning Xander's explanation, he still found it hard to believe, that's why he had to leave to avoid doing something he might later regret.
As he stormed through the hallway, he saw an omega with a glass of water. The omegas were turned into palace maids. Since they were the lowest in rank, they were mostly kept to do menial jobs and labor.
The Omega bowed to him and was about to pass when the cup she held fell from her hands and plunged to the ground, breaking into pieces.
Zack turned to face her, his face red with anger. The Omega immediately went on her knees, knowing that what she had done won't be taken lightly.
“Are you clumsy or stupid?” He growled and she flinched.
“Alpha, I'm sorry. I didn't know how it fell. I'm deeply sorry,” She pleaded as her heart beat frantically against her chest.
“How hard is it to carry a single glass cup, huh? Don't you know it is worth more than your miserable life?” He yelled.
“I'm sorry. Have mercy, Alpha.” She begged in tears.
Zack turned away from her. “Guards!” He yelled and they rushed to meet him immediately. “Pick her up and follow me,” He ordered and started walking out.
They did as he instructed and picked up the Omega, who continued to beg. Her pleadings only infuriated Zack the more, and he turned angrily, landing a massive slap on her face. The guards could swear that would leave a mark.
“Speak again, and I'll cut off your tongue,” He threatened, and she shut up immediately, but hot tears rolled down her cheeks.
Zack walked up to a tree outside the palace and asked the guards to tie her to the tree. They did as he instructed, and he grabbed a whip from one of the guards.
The queen heard about the commotion and ran outside immediately.
“Zack!” She called, but he acted as if he didn't hear her.
The girl couldn't open her mouth to speak as she remembered his threats earlier on. She prayed vehemently for the moon goddess to help her endure the pain. She hoped she wouldn't die.
Zack took a few steps back and, with a raised hand, dropped the whip on the Omega. She screamed when he lashed her again. Zack showed no remorse and continued lashing her nonstop. Her clothes tore, followed by her skin as blood rolled down her body. She screamed and cried in pain, but Zack wasn't ready to stop.
The queen couldn't bear to watch the scene anymore and ran to stand in between Zack and the Omega.
“What are you doing?” She yelled at him.
“Stay out of this, mother.” He ordered, his voice was deep and firm. It was laced with so much anger and authority that it made whoever heard it shudder, not excluding the queen herself.
She gathered courage. She wasn't heartless to stand and watch him torture someone else's child like that.
“This isn't right. Stop it this instant!” She ordered.
“Mum, step away from the Omega. She must get punished for what she has done.” He bawled, in his fists.
“You've punished her enough. This is too cruel,” She said, pointing to the blood on the floor.
Zack snickered. “I'm just getting started!” He raised his hand and the guards held his mother, taking her gently away from there.
“Zack, don't you dare. Don't hit her again!” The queen yelled as the guards took her away, but Zack was more focused on venting his rage than listening to reason.
He made sure to lash the girl several strokes of the whip until she passed out.
“Alpha,” Xander called, looking at the Omega on the floor. He sighed and shook his head.
Zack said nothing and left the place. Xander sighed and facepalmed. What was wrong with him this time? Why the silent treatment? He stared at the Alpha's back until he was out of sight and sighed. Turning to the body of the Omega on the floor, he snapped his fingers and the guards hurriedly picked her up.
“Take her to the hospital.” He ordered and left.

Amber just took her evening shower and stepped out of the bathroom with the sole aim of calling Kaine and clearing things off with him.
“Hello, babe.” She said the moment he answered the phone.
“Hi, Amy,” She smiled when he called her that. That meant things were already cool between them.
“I'm sorry,” Both said at the same time and burst into laughter.
“So, we're cool?” She asked.
“Yes, we're cool.” He answered.
“That's a relief because there is something I want us to talk about.” She said,
“Alright, I'm all ears.” He replied.
“Well, I'm in New Orleans now. Mum asked me to come for something important but when I got here, I realized that they've prepared an arranged marriage for me,” She sighed as she said that. He was silent and she continued. “I don't want to do it, I really don't, but mum begged me and…” She sighed again. “I want to avoid disobeying her. Don't get me wrong here, I still love you, but I have to do this, for mum.”
“I understand your point, Amy, and I'm totally fine with it.” He replied and she gasped.
“Are you serious right now?” She was shocked.
“I love you so much, Amy. This is just a way of showing how much I love you by supporting you.”
