The Contracted Heart

Chapter 4

Rocky has been plotting another plan since the first one failed. He swore to teach Pinkett and her sister a lesson about deceiving him. He came up with a plan and decided to be a secret lover for Bebe. His plan worked perfectly as Bebe fell for his sweet words and the two started a secret love affair.

Bebe hid her affairs from her sister, who walked into her room and saw a love note on the bed.

"Isn't this the same type of paper that was used to send me the map to Steve's hotel? How did this paper get here? What's written on it?"

Pinkett wondered as she read the note, recognized the paper, and said to herself.

"I see, now I understand. This must be from Rocky. Now he's sending love messages to Bebe? This guy is bent on destroying my sister. I must stop him right away. This means I have to go and see Steve once again. But will he listen to me?"

"I just have to try and see him at all costs. He's the only one that can help me now. I have to leave for his office right away."

She immediately left to go and see Steve at his hotel. On her way to his office, while walking in the corridor, she bumped into Steve who was also coming out of his office.

"What the heck are you doing here?"

He lifted his eyebrows as he screamed at her.

"Please, I need your help."

she said helplessly, rubbing her palms together and pleading.

"Are you crazy? Are you coming here seeking my help? After using me for the first time? And to think that I'm yet to deal with you for lying to me and using me?"

"Please just hear me out… I'm desperate."

she pleaded helplessly.

"Are you kidding me? You must be joking right now… get the hell out of my hotel this minute before I get you thrown out."

he said, enraged.

Pinkett remained adamant and continued to plead as Steve cold-heartedly called the security to have her thrown out of the hotel without any mercy and never allow her to step into the hotel again.

The security threw her out harshly and she sprained her knees. She cried and left the hotel. On her way, she wiped her tears and assured herself that everything would be fine.

"Well, I don't blame the grumpy man."

She sniffs her nose

"If he refuses to help me, then I'll see his mother tomorrow and ask for her help. I believe he can't say no to her. She'll talk to him on my behalf and everything will be okay again."

Pinkett got to the Stone mansion the next morning and noticed that there was a ceremony and everyone was preparing for it. She called one of the maids and asked what was going on. The maid told her that Steve was getting married. She was shocked to hear about his marriage. She said to herself.

"This grumpy man is getting married? Now he's not even going to help me at all the moment he gets married. I have to do something fast. I have to take the bride's place and marry him if he must help me save my sister from the clutches of Rocky." She said to herself.

"How do I go about this?"

She thought of an idea for a moment and said

"I'll dress up as a maid and go in search of the bride. If I'm dressed like a maid, no one will recognize me."

Pinkett got to the bride's room looking like a maid and she knocked on the door. The bride opened the door and she saw Sharon Blanche, the first runner-up in the contest.

Sharon is Shirley Stone's (Steve's youngest daughter-in-law) best friend. Sharon was alone in the room and Pinkett walked in and locked the door behind her.

"Who are you and why are you locking the door?"

Sharan asked her curiously.

"Sharon, I'm sorry I don't have time. I have to do this"

she said as she apologized to Sharon and reached for the flower vase in the room. She slammed it on Sharon's head, who immediately passed out. Pinkett checked to see if she was still breathing. So she dragged her and hid her under the bed. Then she said hurriedly.

"Thank goodness she's still alive! The wedding should be over by the time she wakes up. Let me quickly dress up and take her place before someone comes in to see what I've done."

It was time for the wedding and the bride walked down the aisle with her face covered with a veil. The reverend called the couple to the altar to say their vows and exchange their rings after giving his wedding message.

Steve and his bride walked to the altar and said their vows

"I promise to love you and always be by your side, through all of the ups and downs.

I vow to always be faithful, and always be your best friend, no matter what the future might bring.

I promise to always root for you, cheer you on, and be your biggest fan.

I promise to love and support you.

I promise to spend the rest of my days loving you madly.

I promise to cherish you for the rest of your life.

Before our family and friends, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for better or worse, I promise to love you and spend the rest of my days with you.

Steve said his vow and wore the ring on her finger. Then Pinkett was asked to say hers

"I love you with my whole heart, with a passion that can't be expressed in words, only in kisses, glances, and years of adventure by your side."

Pinkett said, holding his ring finger and gazing into his eyes from her veil as she continued

"I promise to be your honest, faithful, and loving wife for the rest of my days."

"I pledge to honor you, love you, and cherish you as my husband today and every day."

"Today I say, "I do" but to me, that means, "I will." I will take your hand and stand by your side in the good and the bad. I dedicate myself to your happiness, success, and smile. I will love you forever."

At the end of their vows, the Reverend said

"You may kiss your bride."

Steve lifted his bride's veil to kiss his bride and he was shocked to see Pinkett under the veil.
