The Last Werewolf

Chapter: SEVEN

Ash looked up at me, "I had a feeling something might be going to happen, something life changing. My mother and grandfather would always tell me that I was special. I wasn't too sure what they were even talking about, I just thought it was just my very good skills working with all the horses I worked with , like they could understand me or something." She stops talking and lets out a long shaky sigh. I then noticed a single tear slowly roll down her cheek. "It's like they have known that I was different from the beginning." She started to cry more into my chest. I wrapped my arms around her even tighter and just let her cry for a while. "Baby, do you remember the first time you and I saw each other? That sudden attraction we felt for each other?"

She nods, so I continue, "That my love is called the mate bond, it's basically like a soul mate, but for my kind, OUR kind it's just a little bit different." She nods but doesn't say anything yet. "So, what exactly are you or i should say what are we anyway?" She says looking me right in the eyes while tears still run down her cheeks. It just breaks my heart to see her like this. "Well, I am a Lycan, Chris and Nate are also Lycans as well. We are like you, but a little bigger. You, my little mate, are what is called a werewolf shifter. To my knowledge, you are what we believe to be the very last of your kind." I hooked my finger under her chin, so I could look into her eyes, and slowly brought my lips to hers. She gasped as soon as our lips touched with an explosion of sparks between us.

We got so lost in our first kiss that we didn't notice that her friends were standing at her bedroom door." AWWWWW!!! Look how cute you two are together." We jumped away from each other to see Kim, Toni and another guy I hadn't met, along with Chris and Nate standing behind them with huge smiles all at Ash's doorway. I chuckled a little then looked back at Ash to see her cheeks were getting red, but damn, she looks so damn cute.

(Ash's POV)

Rick kissed me on the cheek then headed downstairs with the others. Kim looks at me with a sad little smile. "Are you alright?" She asks "If you don't feel up for the party, we totally understand." She adds. She knows I have a hard time dealing with big changes. I gave her my signature half smile and nodded my thanks. I lay back on my bed looking up at the ceiling. I'm just going to have to suck it up and go join the party and take it one day at a time. I made my way down the stairs, Kim and Toni saw me and ran right up wrapping me in their arms. Paul joins in as well as he ruffles up my hair, knowing I hate it when he does it, but I just laugh.

There were many birthday wishes and so many hugs. I looked over to see Paul doing his thing on the grill while laughing with Rick and his two friends. Rick spots me, then there is a beautiful huge smile on his face. I swear I'm going to melt, but then he makes his way over to me and then pulls me close to his body. Suddenly, he jumps into the pool with me in his arms. As the day goes on, most of the guests have left, but Rick and his friends are still here hanging out with us. I excuse myself for a moment to go shower. I was just about finished when I heard a soft voice call out my name. I froze for a moment, then peeked my head out of the shower curtain but didn't see anyone, so I called out "Hello? Is someone there?" I said, but I didn't hear anything.

"I have been waiting for so many years to finally be able to meet you, my beautiful human. I am your wolf. My name is Star. Max and his human , Rick, are our mate that our mother, the Moon Goddess, has blessed us with. It's finally time for you to know exactly who you are ment to be. I am very sorry, but our first shift is going to be painful. This is the other reason for our mate being close. He will help and guide you through." My wolf says. Wow!! The fact that I can literally speak to MY WOLF in my mind is just WOW! All of a sudden, I am hit with a sharp stinging pain that shoots right through my whole body. The pain was so intense that I ended up letting out a scream. A few seconds later, there was someone banging on my bedroom door. " Ash, are you alright?" I heard Rick's voice seemed to settle me, but not enough. I let out another scream and drooped down to the shower floor. I heard my bedroom door being kicked in and saw Rick hurrying over to me. With tears running down my face, I look up at him as he wraps me up in a big fluffy towl and holds me close to his body. "Please, make it stop! It hurts so much." I managed to say just before darkness took over me.

(Ricks POV)

"Mate! Mate is going through her shift!" Max all but yells. s**t! This is all happening fast. Then I heard her scream, then I took off up the steps to her room. The others followed quickly behind me as well. I knock on her door and call out to her, but all we hear is another scream. I kicked in the door while saying I'll get it fixed later on. I find Ash on the shower floor huddled up in a ball with tears running down her face. I grab a towel and wrap her up in it while Kim turns the water off. I carry her to the bed keeping her wrapped up and against my chest for comfort. She looks up at me asking me to please make the pain stop, but then she passes out. "What is wrong? What is going on with her?" Kim asks with confusion on her face. "You guys may want to sit down for what you are about to hear." I told them as I brought Ash onto my lap. "Myself, Chris and also Nate here are known as Lycans. Ash here is a werewolf shifter, and is pretty much the last of her kind." I say as Kim and Toni both look at me with wide eyes. "So, it's true then." We hear Paul say as he walks over to me and Ash and puts the back of his hand to her forehead. A low growl slips past my lips as another male is touching my mate. "What the hell are you talking about?" Kim shouts with tears in her eyes.
