Alaster left Sérafin to be treated by the medical staff and walked blindly back to the dorms. Unlocking and entering the room, his brothers who were seated on the couch looking lost in thought, stood in unison. Alaster was the oldest of the three but they never listened to him. Bucking at his every command like they didn't understand how he was always in charge, well duh. He was the only one who didn't let his anger blind him and he was the oldest.
The two were always quick to run on instinct. Granted, it did at times have its benefits but in a combat trial, the point was to explore weaknesses and learn from them.
Alaster looked at his brothers and extended his arms in a what were you thinking gesture. They both bent their heads in knowing. They all three had their own strengths but the best fighter no doubt was Alaster. Kaden had strength but no brains or intellect to put it to use and Jeffrey had stealth which made him a deadly adversary at times but no drive for anything other than collecting panties. No really the male always kept a pair as trophies of his conquests. Alaster had the smarts, he wasn't any stronger than either of his brothers, their different personalities setting them apart. They looked exactly alike, their hair and personalities the only differentiating factors.
“I mind-linked you and told you to be wary of her being a hybrid, to watch and learn what she could do to get the upper hand, but no, you just had to do your own thing and embarrass us!”
Kaden looked up at that and snarled.
“We did no such thing, it was that filth!”
Jeffrey looked up to nod in agreement.
Alaster held up a hand as he looked away.
“Father would be so disappointed in you both,” Alaster put the hand down and took them both in and spoke in a disbelieving tone, “to know that you let self bias get the better of you so much so that you lost a battle.”
They both blanched at that.
“We have never lost a battle, ever.” Alaster moved to go to his room and stopped at the door. “Don't forget, this is my loss too even if I lasted longer, we win together or we all lose, we are one.”
With that, Alaster decided that sleep and not food, was on the menu and collapsed into bed without a shower or change of clothes. He told himself he would have to change the sheets tomorrow as his lids became heavy and the tension he had been holding in his body eased into slumber.
Kaden flopped back into the couch when Jeffrey turned to ask a question.
“Do you get the feeling he wanted to say more?”
Kaden cursed and started nibbling his thumbnail.
“Of course, I've never seen him so disappointed before.”
“Well, we, the prince Lycan's, did lose.”
Kaden glared daggers at his brother willing them to literally slice his nonchalant attitude.
“Well it's true.”
Jeffrey plopped down next to Kaden in a huff, then pulled out his phone and began typing. There was a ding as the reply came through and Jeffrey rose to head for the door.
“Don't be out all night, we need to train in the morning.”
Jeffrey didn't turn back but waved in response.
“No worries, I'll be back before six.”
Kaden yelled back to the closing door.
“We train at five dipshit!”
Kaden thought back to the sight of the naked hybrid in his brother's arms and instantly got a hard on.
Looking down at himself, he whispered.
“What the f**k?”
Lycan's choose their mates, there is no fated bullshit but there are rare instances he was told in his education where souls can meet back up and it seems fated. As triplets they shared three pieces of the same lycan's soul, it happened in wolves too. Sometimes you got your own and other times, you shared. They shared as they were identical, which meant that one day they would all share the same mate and have the same feelings for her. That had never bothered Kaden, he and his brothers had always shared women but as he rubbed the pec over his heart he couldn't help but think this kind of sharing would be different.
Remembering the way Alaster held Sérafin as if she was liable to break into a thousand little pieces if he moved wrong made him angry and disgusted with himself. He didn't know where all of his hostility towards her came from, it just was. And then you add that she was built entirely different body wise but was flexible and held her own, it had him grinding his molars.
Why did everything about her just make him so upset? Yet as he looked down at his tented joggers that showed no signs of decreasing, he muttered and got up to go to his room.
Laying in his unmade bed, without showing, Kaden looked at the alarm clock at his left telling him it was a quarter to nine. The male pulled the hard length from his pants and started rubbing the sensitive body part, not really thinking, and despite his best attempts not to think, images of Sérafin's naked body had him coming instantly onto himself and didn't that just make him feel dirtier than the mess he was making. The worst part was that it wouldn't stop, not as he saw that sly smile or replayed the well timed drop kick. By the time Kaden was spent and falling asleep, it felt he had slept only two minutes when the shrill of the alarm went off.
Getting up to shower and throw his bed set into a hamper, he walked into the kitchenette area feeling like he had run miles in his sleep. His brothers didn't look much better, surprisingly enough Jeffrey was already up, dressed in a red tracksuit with the jacket zipped all the way up, eating an everything bagel with jalapeno cream cheese and had coffee beside him. Alaster was in the same outfit minus the jacket, a beater up top showcasing muscle and a lean body, pouring himself his own cup of coffee.
Kaden had nothing on at the top but wore the same pants his brothers were adorned in. Giving a weak wave, he greeted them.
“Top of the day brothers, could you pour me a cup too Alaster.”
Alaster poured another cup and set it down hard in front of Kaden.
Kaden was still tired and jumped a bit before adding sugar.
Jeffrey looked between them and then gave an expression like he wasn't getting involved and went back to scrolling on his phone.
“Look brother, I apologize for letting my emotions get in the way,” Kaden swallowed because he and Jeffrey had both witnessed an angry Alaster before and it was not pretty and pretty much the reason why he distanced himself from most. Except them, they could handle his anger, even if it left you bruised and bloodied.
“I was foolish and I've had a lot of time to think.”
Alaster raised one brow, it had only been one night.
“I am dropping one of my extra classes to retake the intro to mindfulness.”
That had Alaster’s expression change to one of questioning and his arms crossed over his pecs.
“I also think Jeffrey should as well,” Kaden added on.
Jeffrey choked on his coffee.
“Just because you want -
“Shut it,” Kaden said, turning and snapped at the youngest of them, “you were acting just as blindly as I, on emotion.”
Jeffrey’s face was a mixture of how dare you and but yeah you're right as he took another bite of the bagel then grabbed his mug of coffee and went back to his phone.
Kaden continued as he looked back at the eldest of them.
“We need better impulse control and the best way to do that is going back to the basics.”
Jeffrey just shrugged.
Alaster nodded, “ok, I agree.”
Kaden nodded and went back to his coffee.
“I will also join you then.”
Kaden’s and Jeffrey's head snapped up at his words and Kaden asked incredulously.
“Why would you do that?”
“Where one is lacking, we all are, now hurry up so we can go and train.”
Kaden just blinked a few times and then did as he was told as usual when it came to the three of them and one or two of them f****d up. It was never about strength with them but the one who could think past the Lycan rage. Something no Lycan ever understood but learned to live with. They all did it in different ways, for Alaster it was with books, Jeffrey girls and himself? Punching things, yep, that always did it for him.
