Amory looked down at the wrinkled envelop ,puzzled. She read the in scribbled writing "To Amory from josh , read along."

Her nails d**g into the paper , she put it in her back pocket wanting to forget the note . Amory glanced at Jack's letter she held in her hand . She let out a fast breath. "I really wish you knew how lucky you are ." Amory breathed out letting the words slip from tongue. As her eyes gazed the vibrant sky , wishing she wasn't orphan and missing her family . Amory didn't understand why she still loved them so much. They abandon her , they were the one's who made her into a stranger to herself . She had to do something but what ? But if Jack wanted to leave this along mabye she should as well. But she couldn't. forget it . Not with the thumping of her heart reminding her of how much she wanted home. How much her soul ached for someone , just a friend because family will never happened .

Amory's boots sunk into the mud , her black hair was a mess that covered her eyes .

Her suit stuck to skin wet from rain and mud.

Harden blood stains stuck to sleves.

Amory glanced over at Jack who waa talking to another guy . His blue eyes were darken and he was sad . Amory could tell , she didn't know what to do .

By mid day they were out of the trenches and was setting up camp fare east. Sweat poured down amory's face as she keep her eyes still on Jack .

"Amory ? hey are you okay?" It was benny .

Amory's eyes focus onto bens ,

"Yeah ." Amory let out with her breath weak.

"No, you don't seem like it ."

Amory deemed at Jack and back to ben .

"I don't know , if someone rejected something important . And you dont think they should , you want to say something but you just...not sure how? What would you do?"

Amory keep her eyes on Jack , silently Ben lessoned. He watched her lean toward Jack and how her body movent kinda matched his . "Just lesson to yourself I guess . If its important and enough to bug you then you should. I can't say if it will turn put good or bad but mabye in a way it could help. " Ben smiled slightly and glanced down at the ground . Fiddling with a stick . His eyes some place else. "You know my father alway's told me , if there's a chance for some good take it. Because the world can take all the good and there can be. " Amory eyes washed over bens , her eyes smiling .

Mabye she should. "Okay everybody ! Look and lesson up cuz I ain't takin no questions."

There leader (Tim) stood up waving his hands in the air .

"Looks like enimey lines have backed away for now . We will hike up to Williams Hill and set up another camp. Some of you will be here why other's will go.

Amory and Jack with a few other people were sent to the hill . It was the first time Amory was separated from Greta and Ben . They both hugged each other goodbye. Amory gave them a tight hug , leaning her weight into there arms and holding there wight into her arms . She inhaled the scent and felt there warm touch as though it was her last time. She learned to do that since the curse.

Her breath still ,with her eyes close taking in there present. She guided her self behind Jack , she could here her heart beating silently in her chest . She touched been shoulder , he slowly looked down to her .

"Hey Jack ..I..I umm was just wounding . " This was harder than she thought . Amory fiddlled dog tags . "Never...Never mind ." Amory softly let out , trudging past him.

Jack watched her walk pass him . Wanting to stay stop or wait but not doing so. He didn't why though , what was different about her ?

Jack watch her messy hair bounce on her shoulders he. adment she was pretty. But he something about her keep his attention.

When they did get to base camp Amory got four tents up while Jack went to find food or fire wood. Amory picked up the metal pole and attached it to its piece. The sky was a deam blue with grey clouds sailing across.

Amory thought about how Jack protected her from the attack and how she saved him as well. Finally getting courage she walked into the woods to find him. Remembering the words Ben had told her . Her heart thump , faster and faster . "Jack?" She found him under a tree , She felt the ticking of her heart jump . Jack was in tears under a tree , he was upset . "Jack? Hey, im sorry are you ok?"

Amory asked her voice soft and quite .

"What? Ya , yes! Amory what are doing out here ? " Jack asked blinking back tears .

His voice was shaky , Amory slowly walked out of the shadows . It was like the night before. The birds were chirping in tune as water from a creek ran down in a stream .

The grass was wet and sunk into there boots. Amory brushed her knees across the grass . "You seem upset ."Amory breathed out with a slight shiver . "Well I'm not and I'm ok, You shouldn't be out here there could be more troops hiding to attack.

Amory put her hand across his lap. The warmth of her hand spreading , Jack took a sharp breath. "Hey..why did you drop this?" Amory asked as she handed him the letter.

"You ? You keep it !?" Jack's mood changed.

"Umm ya Jack..im Sorry but these are your kids your family I-" "You should keep you fingers of off other's peoples s**t! Amory! I cant believe you read this! " Jack got up in a huff . "Wait Jack I was only concerned !"

"Why? Amory you need to learn that I'm not your friend ! I'll just the guy you take orders from !" He stormed of with his words cutting Amory from the inside . Amory stood there her heart in her throat , nails pericing her skin and her mind racing with one question . Why did this hurt so much , am I not use to it ?
